Not a great day, but not bad, either

Two things first:

1) After a few nights of feverish procrastination copypasta coding, I finally have a Secret Life of Dolls read-through for you. You can jump in anywhere you want and, by means of hitting "next" or "previous" as you wish, read the entire saga from beginning to end or end to beginning. That's all you right there.

2) Trufax:

harry potter, twitter, iron man, dolls, twilight, crime, shakespeare, the secret life of dolls, dracula, sparkle motion, x-men, music, watchmen, clash of the titans, scifi, deaths

Mulan, I think, came out before the introduction of the "Disney Princess" line.

I really think Disney has done damage to its image with making a "Disney Princess" line. While we may have unofficially identified female leads as princesses, creating the whole line cemented it in the public mind that Disney females and the Disney people that girls like and relate to are princesses (and not that they happen to be mostly be princesses).

Because it's now super official that Disney for girls = princess, the Disney Princess line feels the need to bring in the other females as princesses every now and then, even if it completely misrepresents the character, and instead of "When are we having a black lead?" it's "When are we having a black princess?" because it's only the princesses that count in the public consciousness. Anybody else will just get swept under the marketability carpet (oh, great. Now we have to THINK and come up with another line instead of just sticking some clip art on the usual DP merch!) or brought in as an extra, because all girls are princesses or some crap like that.
