ECT really is a genuine treatment for Cotard's Syndrome, apparently. He can recommend a Dr. Bundy who can fix that right up for you.

I think they were actually referring to the fact that ECT can cause short-term memory loss, although it probably wouldn't actually reach far enough back for Hannibal's purposes.
