Our House

10-10-09 A Saturday at the Leonard Gorrill house.

Mason is 4 months old - and rolling over! Yes, he had rolled from stomach to back a few times before. But on Saturday I put him on his back and he rolled to his stomach, with the incentive of getting the elusive ga-gee. He did it again later that night after he nursed at a friend's mom's house (their anniversary party). It takes a while to get that arm out from under him, but it is now an achievable task! That's my little man. :)

We woke up to snow outside that morning. Lila was SO excited! I wish I could say the same for myself. We let her go snow crazy, jumping into red snowpants, coat, pink boots (from last year that I'm sure are too small now) and out the door she went. Yes, in that little bit of snow cover, my daughter lay outside making snow angels. :)

Yeah, I did forget the gloves and she did have to come back in for them before they decided to take a walk down the block. She got to finish her snow adventure with a cup of warmed apple cider. Bliss. :)

10-12-09 We did not have daycare. Mommy got to stay home with the kids. Yay! But do you know how hard it is, impossible for me really, to try to plastic up the windows with a baby strapped to your chest and your three year old helping? We got one window done.

10-14?-09 I plopped Lila in the crib with Mason and told her to read him a couple of books while I showered. When I got out, I could hear, "Are you my mother? No, I am not your mother. I am a dog. Are you my mother? I am not your mother, I am a cow." Complete with character voices. I wish I could have it on film!

Other notes: Lila is calling me Mom more often now. And usually with a 13-year-old's attitude. "Mooooom!" And throwing in things like "that's not fair", although she can't explain to me what that means. Or she'll get mad and tell us "you can't come to my birthday anymore" or "I'm not going to play with you anymore!"

She'll also be in conversation and say something like "that's why she can't do it." I'll ask, "Why can't she, Lila?" And her response will be, "That's why she can't!" "But why can't she?" "That's why!" All with a lovely little singing lilt in her voice, but no explanation of "why".

We got her singing on tape last night. For a while she made up her own song, which ended in singing about me buttoning her dress and her putting her necklace on. When asked to sing the Ariel song, she burst into Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We did eventually get the Ariel song, but with me singing at least half of it with her. I can't wait to post it to Facebook. I may be the only one that thinks so, but it's too awesome!

We also got Mason smiling and cooing. So adorable. :) I find it funny that they have little sounds they like to repeat. Lila said "bob" and something that sounded like "diggle diggle" a lot. Mason has the cutest sigh around/after sneezing. And he says "goo". Where Lila's cry sounded like "wah!", his does not.

10-13-09 Mason had his 4-month check-up. He is 15 lbs, 13 oz, and 26 inches long. Still a pretty mellow kid, he got pissed at those vaccination shots! Both my kids can turn bright red! He's lost a lot of hair, but I think it's starting to grow back in. Will he stay red, or go blonde? I'm not sure. It looks pretty light, but still red....

Always more to come. Love them. :)
