I got this note from an old co-worker/friend when I sent three pics of Li: "Lila looks like a little sassy pants. I'll bet you have your hands full. Thanks for the pics." Sassy pants? Is that a good or bad thing? I'm not sure how to take that....
Granted, I did send her this photo ('cuz I think it's funny):
So Lila has been a BEAR for almost a week now. We think she's got a bitch of a tooth coming in and it's totally messing with her. Last night, she freaked out on me when I told her I HAD to go potty and she needed to let me run to the bathroom. She melted down, screaming, followed me all the way into the bathroom, and continued to scream at me. Let me tell you, it's pretty impossible to focus on going to the bathroom when you have a toddler standing and screaming you. Charlie was tired and surly, too, which didn't help. He removed her from the bathroom and she screamed all the way down the stairs and outside into her swing. I changed clothes and went out there with them and she continued to scream even after I picked her up. Charlie left and went inside. Our neighbor, Janine, came over to try to help, but Lila buried herself into my shoulder, continued to scream, and bat Janine away.
I eventually talked her down with promises of juice and Blue's Clues and we went inside. Thank GOD for Blue's Clues.
She had fallen down the back deck steps earlier that night. I have no idea if this had something to do with it. She didn't seem hurt and calmed down quickly that time. But she was clumsy the rest of the evening, which makes her mad. I'm guessing she didn't have a nap yesterday at daycare. Mondays seem to go that way for some reason.
One thing I forgot to document about the night before... She's into having two books held at bedtime: my book and mommy's book. Mommy's book is usually "One Fish Two Fish" and her book is Maya Angelou's "Life Doesn't Frighten Me." We both open our books and I start to read mine aloud. She quickly wants to jump to the "bump bump" poem: Bump Bump Bump. Did you ever ride a Wump? We have a Wump with just one hump. But we know a man called Mr. Gump. Mr. Gump has a seven hump Wump. So... if you like to go Bump Bump, just jump on a hump of the Wump of Gump.
Yes, I have much of this book memorized.
But I found out - so does Lila! It's one thing to know she likes the Bump poem. But then I get to the blue hair pet poem... I start out "Brush Brush Brush Brush" and she does the next part! "Comb Comb Comb Comb". All by herself. I was amazed and impressed. She's memorizing stories.... (For the curious, the rest of the poem goes: "Blue hair is fun to brush and comb. All girls who like to brush and comb should have a pet like this at home.")
I thought of more things to write at 4:30 this morning while we were up - again - for a while. But they have fled. Hopefully I'll remember later.....
