O. My. God.

I saw The Pillowman on Broadway last night and it was absolutely incredible. Billy Crudup was wonderful - he can play just about anything...such a chameleon. Jeff Goldblum was also amazing, with perfect comic timing and delivery. Zeljko Ivanek, who was in 24 and a ton of other things, was also perfect, as was the guy who played Billy Crudup's brother. Although it was grisly and creepy at times, of which I had been forewarned, it passed quickly and the insane amount of humor helped to dilute it. The jokes weren't just macabre either. I was laughing more than I've laughed in a while - it seems like it was almost the whole time - but I felt a little weird because I was there with my grandparents and they weren't laughing nearly as much. It was awesome of them to take me, because it's not really their kind of show, but my grandma actually really liked it. For my grandpa, it was "very well done." Although all three of us shared our guilt about supporting Billy Crudup after what he did to Mary-Louise Parker, we agreed that you have to just separate the actor from the person, and Billy Crudup is simply fantastic. For anyone who doesn't mind discussion of child murder, I would heartily recommend it - the acting, writing, direction, production design, music...everything if perfect. I realize I have been gushing for eight minutes now, so I will spare you all the rest. I'm coming home this weekend for the latter part of Saturday and most of Sunday, so let me know when you guys are free. Only one week left...weird.
