Election is a really, really good movie, and I really like Burn after Reading.

Burn after Reading is not as good as No Country for Old Men or Election or Jerry Maguire.

For the record:

There Will Be Blood is nothing compared to No Country for Old Men.  If you get to see one, catch the latter.

It lives up to the hype and so much more.

Ratatouille: A+
Paris, je t'aime: A-

I recommend both for viewing in cinema.  Both are fantastic.

Tonight I watched 21 Grams:

• 21 Grams: Long.  Drawn-out.  Overly melodramatic.  Twenty minutes into the movie, I'm wondering what the film is even about--more importantly, why I'm supposed to keep watching.  Halfway through the only things I'm really noticing are first that Benicio Del Toro is more talented that Sean Penn and Naomi Watts combined, ( Read more... )

• Twelve and Holding: Partly sensitive, partly funny, but invariably disturbing, Twelve and Holding features three 12-year-old protagonists: one endearing, one pitiable, and the last vengeful, annoying, and terrifying.  This film tries to address "real issues," and because of its perspective seems to be speaking primarily to 12-year-olds themselves ( Read more... )

Oscars 2007 was a great show, and Ellen was a fantastic host.  I didn't care to guess who was going to win, and I'm not going to retrospeculate; I'm just going to tell you who and what should have won but didn't in the categories I cared about this year.  If a film, actor, or actress weren't nominated, it/he/she should have been.  I'm looking ( Read more... )

This morning I finished writing my screenplay for Fifth Year Free.  It's 76 pages plus title page.

This afternoon I found out that I had won dinner for up to 15 people at The Harvest restaurant in Brookfield, CT.  That's where Dad, Matthew and I had our Thanksgiving dinner.  It was good, and the place costs $50+ per person!  I don't even know how I' ( Read more... )

I visited Boston this past weekend and, realising that Children of Men was playing locally thereby making Boston far superiour to Worcester and Connecticut (where Children of Men is not playing), I got my ass down to a cinema with my Iranian-Californian buddy Shahin and paid good money to watch that film.
