There are things I like, and things I dislike.

I like food, seeing friends, comfortable clothes, and watching small animals.

I don't like screaming children, barking dogs, motorcycles, or car alarms.  I fantasize of a world without them.

Janine di Giovanni comments on the apparent cruelty French mothers show to their young children as opposed to Anglo-Saxon and American mothers.  Overall, reaffirms my desire to live in France, marry in France, and raise a family in France. Is Maman mean or magnifique?
