Seeing Seattle

May 25, 2007 00:54

We arrived in Seattle yesterday after traveling nearly 12 hours (we drove to the Houston airport, then flew to Albuquerque, on to Salt Lake City and and then into Seattle). Today we visited the Pike Street Market area (seeing the flying fish and incredibly colorful flowers. My wife called it a feast for all the senses), Pioneer Square, including the famed Underground Seattle tour, and then on to the Space Needle. Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the Sci-Fi Museum and Hall of Fame, but I've not heard an awful lot of chatter about it, so I'm not sure it's a 'not-to-be-missed' attraction.

Seattle strikes me as a fascinating city. Definitely anti-Republican. We also noted that Seattle seemed to have more than its fair share of homeless and 'disabled.' In fact, one held an placard (improvised from a cardboard box) upon which was scrawled with a large, black magic marker 'Father was killed by ninjas. I need money for karate lessons.' I couldn't decide if I should get a picture, or give the guy a buck just for sheer chutzpah.
