I didn't have time to post yesterday, but it was really a good day for me and my art ^0^
During lunch break, I went to my usual tiny park to work on my storyboard, and in spite of the bothering "pétanque" players, I could finish the layout of the last pages of chapter 2 of my comics "en suivant Zachary". I was ready to leave after drawing one page layout but felt dissatisfied with the half-done job, all the more so that I really have to push myself to "enter" my comics' ambiance and work on my storyboard.
So when I finished, I almost fist-pumped, i was so happy to have wrapped up this chapter (though truly I didn't finish anything ^^;;; ).
Then, in the evening, we wrapped up every RL business earlier than usual, and I was all by myself even before 10 p.m.
I took out the Colorex (watercolor inks) I bought during my (very non-productive) vacations and found a forgotten sketch, that I somewhat managed to color.
I must say I never felt at ease with Colorex (the couple of times I tried them), because I always ended up with colors too strong on the paper, that ruined my pictures >.< And indeed, the first touch of color on my paper yesterday evening was like "Oh, shoot! Not again!".
So I made myself practice a kind of "homeopathic watercolor inking": one drop of color in a pool of water, then a touch of the 1st dilution in a second pool of water, to finish with colors dilutions applied with a water-drenched brush ^^;;;
Obviously, the resulting picture is quite pale and hard to scan/photograph (the paper is not watercolor paper, so it's all wrinkled >.< ). Below is a photo of the corner of table I used, with the dilutions of colors, and the resulting picture:
Blue pencil not erased, main lines drawn with gray pencil, watercolor inks.
It's not perfect, but it's far from the disappointment I felt before, so it gave me more motivation to color this way ^^
Now I have to find more "old sketches" :p
