I’m exceptionally grateful for my low-key, healthy, employed and housed existence these days but I’m acutely aware that it doesn’t guarantee my course through life. I’ve seen far too many people hit by curve balls.

Imagine you’re a person who has been blessed to live their first 20 or so years in a comfortable, and relatively supportive and ( Read more... )

Very thoughtful post. In my senior year yearbook, I planned that I'd be a teacher, marry a cute but goofy guy and have one boy, one girl three years apart. Yep, all happened. Plus a bonus baby! Much of my life has been planned and pretty good til this year when cancer struck my family plus job loss of my husband plus other extended family stuff. But even though it's been a tough six months, we're still a strong family, and just praying and working ourselves towards better days!!

Wow Kelly, you've gotten a dose and a half this year yet you still sound so strong and positive. Sounds like you've stayed focused on what is TRULY important in your life. Thanks for sharing. Happy holidays.

My life has been all unexpected crises.. I've never had the planned or hoped for comfortable existence. But... as a writer I can say 'it is all grist for the mill' and that makes it somehow much better. Anyhow, I liked your post, Kai.

Linda, is that the secret to your prolific writing habit? You have so much material to chose from you just have to keep writing?! Well, you wear it well, my dear.

What an interesting post, Kai. And you're so right. When I was younger, I never dreamed about health problems. Robert Browning's poem "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be," written to Elizabeth Barrett was and is so beautiful. However, our bodies grow old and parts wear out, so I'm not sure that's the "best" of life. Not complaining, just thinking.

Also, I've awarded you the "One Lovely Blog Award" for your great posts. Details are at: http://beverlystowemcclure.blogspot.com

Have a super weekend.
