New Ideas

So apparently, Dad got a ticket on Thursday.

He receives a call from Charlie while he is driving in the city so he quickly pulls over to the curb like a good citizen. After all, talking on a cell phone without a hands free device is against the law so dad abides by not driving. Unfortunately, he breaks the law by pulling over. There's a tap on his window and by the time he looks over, the meter maid is already writing him a ticket. He's in a No Standing Zone. He looks around. No one is waiting for the No Standing Zone. He proceeds to explain but she continues to write a $95 ticket.

My dad loses it. Starts calling her every name he can think of as Charlie laughs into his ear. She hands over the ticket and dad goes into work and yells at everybody. I am glad I am not there at The Surge today. Actually, I'm always glad when I'm not at The Surge.

So, it's time to write the payment for the ticket. Dad takes out a pen and writes the city a check and then writes all over it why it is unfair to receive said ticket. I am almost positive it isn't very nice. But the part that makes me understand where I come from, is when dad then takes his stapler and repeatedly staples the check to the ticket. 20 times.

the surge, we're loud people
