It's nighttime when Deidara finds where Sasori's been buried--it's a shallow grave so it's not hard at all to move the dirt, and he's sure no one really cared how he was put in as long as he was covered up. So he hauls the body out--it's lighter than he expects, with the two puppets still hanging off of him and impaling him, as if they fear he might pop out of the grave otherwise.

Deidara's not smiling, and that's rare enough, his grin normally falling easy on his face as if it were painted on. But he's not, and he's not sure why he's not, but he doesn't stop to think about it, he just has his bird pick up Sasori's body and flies off with it, to the cave where his puppets are. He would have gotten to Sasori's body earlier had he not needed to pile all the puppets up. But there they are, a hundred or more puppets like some sort of peculiar funeral pyre, and when he sets Sasori on top it seems even more like one.

Well, Deidara supposes, it kind of is.

He's not sure what he's feeling when he does this--it's something he's not used to, something he hasn't felt before--or not in a while, anyway. He's feeling--he's feeling--

He buries it all in anger. Because really it was Sasori's fault for dying, some damn eternity that was, shows him right for thinking he could, and damn him for leaving him here with who knows who to be his partner now.

Not that he cares. Not that he--

Whatever. He stops thinking about it, and starts placing the bombs. It's not hard; he's always known naturally where to place such things, and so it's done in a few moments.

Not that he cares. This is just--

Just--

He sets off the bombs, and everything explodes into red. The puppets don't scatter because they don't have time, consumed in flame and light and smoke. And in an instant it's all gone, and Deidara is watching the remains burn.

Just one instant, from there to not and the between that can never be captured, the between that's art.

That was just--

What needed to be done.

--

[Deidara's hand appears for a moment, and he turns the Hitomi off. Otherwise, he's buried beneath blankets.]
