Okay, I feel obligated to clear this out in the air so it doesnt come out in conversation and I feel like a party pooper, because there are friends of mine (my roomies already, to start) who are just adamantly against my beliefs.

I dont like Dane Cook. Or Carlos Mencia.

Here's the thing with Carlos Mencia: His Comedy Central stand-up routine that got him famous is comic gold, and I love it. He's fking hilarious and really stresses the make-fun-of-other-people-fuck-political incorrectness-thing, oh-and-I-can-get-away-with-it-because-im hispanic. Then Comedy Central gives him his own show, a replacement of Chapelle I guess (I dunno, its a lot like Chapelle in structure), and Mencia just takes everything in his comic routine and blows it out of proportion. Please, don't get me wrong, the guy is funny. I think he's funny. I just think the fact that 95% of his jokes are about mexicans being lazy and black guys having big ______'s (i was gonna say stereo systems, obviously), and white guys are rich and boring, and jews hold onto money, blabla. Funny, I guess, but not after a while :/ and it's very unoriginal. I still watched his show every now and then, not thinking all that much of it, and then I find out an interesting little trinket that Mencia is half Honduran and half GERMAN, no "beaner" in him (using a Mencia word), and his real first name is Ned, changing it to Carlos so his act can have more "cred". ZWTF? So is he a fraud now? I dunno.
But that's an aside thing, whats important is that while I love shows like the Boondocks and Chapelle's Show, a comedic routine driven entirely on stereotypes the world knows plainly about I just find stupid. Sorry, I'm a party killer =(

But see, here's the thing. A lot of comedians do this. A LOT. I would bet that like 95% of the comedians who have stand up on HBO or Comedy Central are basically spouting out recycled jokes from prior comedians. These days, a lot of it is about delivery, and that's what has made Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia so popular. And that SUCKS, imo. Being a comedian should be about looking at the world from a new perspective and making people laugh with original stuff. Like Mitch. God Bless Mitch.
Okay, I hope you all still love me, because both of these comedians are really popular in the UGA scene. And just so I dont look like a "hater", here are the only comedians I love and will tolerate:
-Mitch Hedberg
(the list really should end here for obvious reasons)
-Richard Pryor
-Dave Chapelle (but not his recent stand up, his older stuff)
-Bill Hicks
-Pablo Francisco (parts of it)
