How can one not love Carl Sagan? :-)
I was pointed to this music video by a friend. Bits from the famous 'Cosmos' series from the 80's, featuring Carl Sagan was the foundation. And then of course there's a little vocoder - actually, quite a bit.
The chorus, itself made from cutups, is sweet:

Nie erhörte Klänge
Well, not all completely. But I recently did a happy post, talking about new instruments.
To recap:
1) The Hydraulophone [late 1980's?] - a sort of pipe organ with somewhat cooler steam
2) The Yamaha Tenori-On[2005] - elektrik sound toy

Why is this the 80's track that makes me the most happy?
I'm sure there's a perfectly sound reason why I identify strongly with this song (and have for 20 years or so). Probably something about living your life to the fullest and finding yourself along the way.
Oh shoot - all I know is it motivates me a lot :-)

Stumbled upon this retro public service announcement block from late 1989. It must be a sign of mental illness that the first thing I did was to establish that the intro jingle is in 9/4 meter :-P
