Et justitia antabus

I like it that they've updated www.retsinformation.dk and given it a new look.

I don't like that they've transferred the entire database of Danish laws in effect - which works as THE reference for politicians and 'ordinary people' alike - erroneously, so a lot of laws seem to have been signed on January 1st, 1753. Like the King's Law from 1665 and Danish Code from 1683.

You may say 'Who gives a flying french fry about the signature dates of old laws?' and you're absolutely right.

However, if the data have been transferred in such a way so as to have gotten truncated in one field - signature date - who knows what could have happened to other fields? Like validity?

It seems that the instruments of Government and Parliament are no more accurate or reliable than the IT department's biggest blunders.

Åh edb, edb, du er det ord,
der fører os frem mod de år,
hvor verden bli'r styret af dataloger.
I morgen er vor -
I morgen er vor -
I morgen er verden vor!

- Final Chorus from song nr 42, SongBook of Institute of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen.
(melody: 'Tomorrow Belongs to Me' from Cabaret)
