Merlin/Arthur CANON PARTY

A post for like-minded M/A LJ friends (and non-friends, if you happen to pop by :)) to roll around in the amazingness that is canon-era fic.
What are the tropes you love in canon fic? Spells and enchantments? Bed-sharing in winter? Arranged marriages? Duels? Future fic? To be honest, I LOVE ALL OF THOSE. I consume them like candy. I love canon fics in general, but what really clicks for me is the characterization and the intense feels in them. (I love this fandom so much, hhhgggh.) Some of my top favourite tropes/themes are war and politics, Arthur character study (man versus king), magic reveal, animal transformation, future fic, and cuddling boys! Although I read about anything as long as it's a canon-era fic. ♥
And then maybe tell me your top five, or top ten canon fics. Both classics and undiscovered gems alike! (KINK/PORN FIC WELCOME TOO OK.)
Here are some of my favourites. (I have too many canon fics saved in my bookmarks, so er, this is really just the tip of the iceberg.)
A Study in Natural Philosophy by mad_maudlin
PG-13, 13k. It wasn't all that unusual for people to hide their daemons; Merlin, however, seems to be taking it a little far.
Bring the sun back by pushdragon
R, 20k. Inexplicable things keep happening around Arthur. In the end, he can only accept that he's cursed with magic. Magic needs to be stamped out, and Arthur shows himself no mercy.
Coronation by rageprufrock
PG-13, 8k. In the end, all men are more or less forgotten, but Arthur, when he is but a footnote in Camelot’s history - may it be long, and may it be rich - wants to be remembered for having been a dutiful prince, and with luck, a dutiful king.
Future Perfect by seperis
NC-17, 15k. Futurefic duo in which Merlin and Arthur are very much boys, even when they are sorcerers and kings.
Lemon Meringue by adelagia
PG-13, 3k. Arthur exiles Merlin for his own safety, but even from afar Merlin manages to make his presence felt anyway.
Seven Magpies by syllic
NC-17, 30k. Arthur opened his eyes a minute later to the sight of seven magpies streaking across the top of the clearing, their shapes dark against the white clouds and the muted grey of the sky. He tried to remember what it was that seven magpies meant-he'd had a nurse who had sung the rhyme to him as a child-but couldn't. Arthur wakes up somewhere he doesn't recognise, but where he clearly belongs.
The Weight of Words by waldorph
NC-17, 6k. Arthur knows how to use words just as well as Merlin, and he knows about the magic.
