I might be jumping to conclusions, but I think I'm beginning to understand why the writers thought Katarina was "too limiting" a companion. Sadly she had a lot of potential, but the time she comes from makes it hard for her to work. Besides the fact that she does't know things that we take for granted, her upbringing will lead to her reactions being rooted to her faith in the supernatural rather than in logic. James Moran must have used Katarina's way of seeing the world as inspiration when he created the characters from Fires of Pompeii, as they're all in a similar wavelength. On the other hand, the problems from having a past companion were used as blueprint when Jamie joined the series, as the now famous "Jamieisms" were created to avoid the mistake of having to explain everything to him all the time.
I'm confused by Mavic Chen's alleged ethnicity. He looks like he's supposed to be black and Asian at the same time. Well, it IS the future.I always though that was the case, yes. Why else would Kevin Stoney be made-up to make his

Why is it always the wasted-potential companions who die in Classic Who?
Ah, Brig/Doctor...somehow I forgot that that pairing exists. Probably because I just don't see a lot of it.
I was just listening to Dead Air last night and there was a great bit where Ten was talking about the progression of sound recording technology between the '60s and the 2000s and it made me wonder what's going to come after digital recording and mp3s.
I don't have any actual proof that they're jumping on a trampoline, but the way they move in the scene leads me to believe it - if they were jumping on the floor, you'd see them bend and flex more than they do.
And I need to add this icon to the conversation since you've clearly alluded to it. :P
