Because of the time difference, I came home from school to watch the second tower fall on TV. I remember being glued to the tv and spending the next day(s) in class discussing the implications - and having a huge fight with some classmates who insisted 'the US had this coming', because I found it so disrespectful. Ironically, the one muslim girl in my class was completely on my side. Which is why the change in atmosphere and this 'fear of islam' that followed 9/11 sits so wrong in my gut.

What many people forget is that many Muslim's died in the attacks. They were workers in the building, and were as much as victims as everyone else. I also hate how people are all "fear of Islam/war on Islam". Same for the people who were "US had it coming". I would have been on your side in that argument.
