It felt as if the walls were closing in, squeezing, suffocating him. No matter which way he turned the pressure continued to build, draining him, wearing him down. He struggled against it but it beat him down, the thing that he had once welcomed now fought to dominate everything that he was.

Closing his eyes Ray let the water cascade over his weary body. His hair clung to his body, his mind feeling empty and exhausted. All he longed to do was sleep, but when he lay down sleep was out of grasp, his mind too alert, too busy listening for the footstep on the floorboards of the flat.

Turning off the water Ray stepped from the shower, drying himself off and wrapping his towel around him. How had he gotten himself so tangled up like this? When they had first approached him he had welcomed them, loving the way they made him feel, but now… it just seemed so pointless, like another step in the daily routine.

What was love? What was it all about? He had told himself that he loved them, and perhaps in the beginning he had, but did he now? What was affection? Was it the soft words spoken in the dark after the rough play? Was that affection?

Suddenly feeling ill he crossed to the toilet, throwing open the lid as his stomach emptied its contents. Well, at least he knew he wasn’t pregnant. Were he a woman being sick so early in the morning would be a bad sign, but luckily for him men couldn’t fall pregnant. It was unheard of for male neko-jins to become pregnant also, so he was safe.

So why was he sick? Why was this happening repeatedly several times a day? Why was he so tired? So exhausted? Why did he feel ill all the time? Why did he always feel like he was dirty no matter how hard he scrubbed or how much soap he used?

Rinsing out his mouth he finished getting dressed, pulling back his hair into a loose ponytail and looking up to take in his expression. For over a month now he had begun to look withdrawn, eyes appearing more sunken while his skin had lost its healthy glow. He had the appearance of a zombie which he tried so hard to cover up.

Reaching for a small bag he pulled out some of its contents. He picked up the foundation, applying a small amount to his face before taking up the blush. After a few more minutes and a couple of tricks he had taught himself, he looked back up at his image, nodding with satisfaction to see that he looked, well, normal.

Returning everything to its place, he picked up his robe and folded it over his arm, the bag hidden beneath the material. He made his way to his bedroom, putting his things away before fixing his hair. After putting on his shoes Ray made his way to the kitchen, trying to appear as if all was well.

Entering the kitchen Ray found the other two had not arrived yet, their other flatmate looking up as Ray approached. Ray smiled faintly at him. “Morning Bryan.”

The lavender haired blader grunted, returning his attention back to his breakfast. Ray continued on undaunted. He was used to Bryan’s cold and emotionless attitude, as he had been putting up with it for several months now. He had hoped that Bryan would open up to him, but the elder continued to remain the unknown entity to Ray.

Ray frowned as he watched Bryan finish his breakfast, dropping his dishes into the sink before heading back toward his bedroom. Bryan… intrigued Ray. Ray wanted to get to know the silent one, to get close, but every time Ray took the first step in trying to get to know him, Bryan slammed all the barriers up.

Ray jumped as he felt the light touch, looking up quickly and spotting the amusement sparkling in the others crystal blue eyes. “You’re certainly jumpy this morning.”

“I was thinking, that’s all.” Ray felt his cheeks warm.

“The gods forbid, you thinking? That certainly means trouble.”

“Tala…” Ray smiled. “You’re a tease.”

“Mm-hm.” Tala brushed Ray’s hair from his eyes and kissed him lightly before moving to go about making his own breakfast. “You got up early.”

“I needed a shower.” Ray shrugged. “Besides, it’s not really that early. Bryan’s already up and was practically finished when I arrived.”

“Bryan has always been an early riser.”

“Who’s talking about Bryan?” They looked up as Kai entered, crimson eyes sweeping over the two of them before he joined Tala. “Well?”

“We were just saying he gets up early, that’s all.” Tala bumped Kai aside with his hip before joining Ray at the table. “That and I was commenting on the fact Ray left us early.”

“Yes, I noticed that.” Kai set his coffee down beside his plate before pulling up a third seat, eyes moving toward the youngest present. “How come?”

“As I told Tala, I needed a shower.” Ray forced himself to smile easily as he took another bite of his breakfast. He wasn’t at all that hungry, but he knew he had better eat. “I wanted to get it in before breakfast, and since you both looked to be asleep I decided to sneak out.”

“When you left I got cold,” Tala commented. “And you know I like playing with you hair when I wake up.”

Kai snorted. “All you do is tangle it and Ray spends the morning having to get them out.”

Ray had to smile. “So what do you two have planned for today?”

“Thought I’d have a day home,” Kai replied.

“Tal?”

“Same.”

Ray sipped his tea. “Just you two remember you have that meeting tonight.” He chuckled at their groans. “Oh come on, it can’t be that bad. Besides, it’ll do you good to go out and mingle with other people.” Not to mention gets you out of the house so I can have some quiet time without you two trying to rip me out of my clothes.

Ray tuned out as the two captains began debating over what the meeting could be about, Ray’s mind once more wandering toward the silent one. Ray had once asked him, early on, what Bryan had thought about the threesome Ray, Kai and Tala had, but Bryan had simply shrugged it off and continued on with whatever it was he had been doing.

Finishing his breakfast Ray placed his dishes into the sink beside Bryan’s, leaving his two lovers to their conversation before making his way to his room. Stepping inside, Ray closed the door behind him, wishing for a lock before he stepped toward and fell onto the bed.

Sighing, Ray’s mind drifted back to several months beforehand. Kai had offered him this room after Ray had commented he would rather not live with their other teammates, and a month after moving in Ray had found himself subject to the flirtatious behaviour of Tala.

It was around that time Ray had fallen hard for Kai, which was bad considering Ray had never before been in a relationship, let alone a gay relationship. Somewhere along the line Kai had worked it out and began showing Ray a little more favour. Ray’s heart had shattered when he had caught Kai and Tala making out in Tala’s room, but before Ray could leave Tala had leapt up and the truth had come out.

Tala, as it turned out, had a huge thing for Ray, just as Ray had a thing for Kai. Kai himself discovered his affections divided equally between the two, and it was at this moment that they had come forth with the idea of the threesome.

It was from them Ray had discovered things about himself he had never known before, both physically and mentally. He soon found himself succumbing to Tala, and the two had gone solo without Kai on several occasions, just as Ray had been with Kai without Tala. It was all about exploration and experimentation, though it became clear to Ray that neither Kai nor Tala were amateurs at this kind of relationship.

But a month ago the strain of it all had begun to wear him down. Kai and Tala were demanding, both physically and emotionally, and Ray was beginning to crack under the pressure. He could feel it.

He wanted nothing more than to escape from beneath them, but he knew that they would never let him go. Every night Tala would press himself against Ray and whisper ‘I love you’, leaving shivers coursing through Ray’s body. How could he leave someone who loved him so much? Kai never said such a thing, but actions speak louder then words-

Ray tensed involuntarily as the door opened, a head poking in as eyes swept over him. “Ray? You all right?”

“I’m fine.” Ray sighed. “Just tired.”

“Hn.” Kai glanced behind him. “We did have a big night last night.”

“Yeah.” Just like every other night since we all got together. “Did you want something?”

“Just wanted to check in on you.” Kai frowned. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

Ray sighed. “I might have to sit out whatever you had planned for today though. Or at least for this morning.”

“Understandable. You get some sleep.” Kai smirked. “Tala’s not gonna like it though.”

“Tala never does when I sit out.” Ray smiled. “He’ll understand.”

“He will. I’ll check in later, okay?”

“Yeah.”

As the door closed Ray let out a long breath. So he got out of that one. So far neither of them had noticed he was sitting out more and more often, as they were too wrapped up in each other. Kai was right though; Tala wouldn’t like it. For some reason Tala preferred it when Ray was there, even if Tal spent the entire time pleasuring or being pleasured by Kai. It was almost as if Tala felt he owned Ray…

Rolling onto his side, Ray stifled a yawn, and wasn’t surprised to find himself drifting to sleep.

************

Bryan growled at the back of his throat before reaching for his headphones, putting them on and cranking up the music. There were times he regretted living with such horny bastards, as all they ever seemed to do was screw each other while screaming at the top of their lungs therefore making sure everyone in the neighbourhood knew they were screwing each other.

Okay, so maybe he’s exaggerating a little. They weren’t that loud, but still loud enough to annoy him, and the thud of the headboard against the wall could drive even the sanest of men off his rocker.

Returning his attention back to his computer, Bryan typed in the next word into the ‘search’ box before hitting Enter. Tala would probably give him a hard time if he knew Bryan spent most of his time researching to write essays and for his novel. Bryan smirked. He had already had an offer for one essay, not to mention an invitation from an American University to come study in a highly sort after course. Bryan had turned them down… for now.

Frowning, Bryan tugged one of the earpieces aside, listening. Hm. It would appear that Ray had not joined in this latest bout. That didn’t surprised Bryan though. Ray had begun to look as if he were fading away over the last couple of weeks, so he was probably just sitting this one out, though the other two would force him to make up for it later.

Bryan shook his head and pulled a face in disgust. The Wolf and the Phoenix were preying on the Tigers vulnerability, he knew it. He had observed them, noting how they would flitter around the younger until he would comply to their unspoken demands. The Tiger had always been emotionally weak, and the two were using this as a weapon.

Bryan growled. Why should he care what they did, anyway? It wasn’t his business, never had been. If they wanted to use Ray, that was their problem. Just so long as they left Bryan to his own devices.

Stretching, Bryan glanced at the clock in his room. Already it was midday, meaning that those jackasses had been at it all morning. Grunting, he put everything onto standby for later before he stood, making his way to the door.

He wished he had of had a lock for his room, or that the rooms were at least soundproof as he heard them again. Pausing out of curiosity he gently opened Ray’s door, peeking in and spotting the form curled up asleep on the covers. Without making a sound he closed the door again before heading for the kitchen.

Just why had he done that? What was it that had caused him to look in on the neko-jin, just to see if he was in there or not? Why was it that over the past couple of weeks he had found himself wondering after the younger man, trying to work out what made him do the things that he did?

Brushing it off, Bryan made himself some lunch, scowling as he saw that no one had bothered to do the breakfast dishes. Once again he would be stuck doing them. Just meant he would have to give his captain an earbashing once again. He smirked. Not that he minded doing that.

Hearing a light step he looked up, spotting the blurry eyed Ray as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Golden eyes shifted to fall on him, Bryan narrowing his own eyes and turning away as he tugged open the fridge, looking for something to drink.

“Did you come into my room before?”

Bryan glanced back and shrugged. “Curious to see why you weren’t with the others.”

“I was tired.”

“So I saw.” Bryan could feel Ray watching him as he reached for the juice and pulled it out.

“Hope you’re not going to drink that straight from the bottle.”

“Don’t believe everything Tala says, Kon.” Bryan closed the fridge with his foot as he turned to reach for a cup. “Besides, it’s Kai who is the culprit.”

Ray smiled as he moved toward the fridge to find something to go on his sandwich. “You wouldn’t mind pouring me something as well, could you?”

“Whatever.” Bryan snagged another glass as he cast a glance over his shoulder. “I wouldn’t use the cream if I were you.”

Ray looked up at him, intending to have jam and cream on his bread but pausing as Bryan spoke. Frowning, he turned the bottle in his hand and winced at the used by date. He dropped the container into the sink before returning his attention to the fridge. “Thanks.”

Bryan finished his drink and set his cup down. “Last thing we need is you sicker.”

Ray straightened, head smacking against the top of the fridge before he spun. “How…”

Bryan was already gone.

************

Ray had almost finished straightening his bed when he heard the door open, and in looking up he spotted those clear eyes watching him. Sighing, Ray returned to what he was doing, listening as the other stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.

“We missed you this morning.”

“Kai said you would.”

A brief pause. “So did you get some sleep?”

“Yeah. A fair bit actually.” Ray looked up. “Not that you guys helped much, Tala, with all your banging and groaning.”

Tala smiled and shrugged, long eyelashes that Ray envied him for brushing his cheeks as he blinked. “Weren’t feeling left out, were you?”

“No. Just tired.” Ray turned and sat on the bed, watching the other. “So what brings you here?”

“Just come to see how you are.” Tala smiled faintly. “Kai’s taking a shower, and Bryan hasn’t been very social of late, so I wanted to see if you were awake.”

“I am, and I’ve had lunch and everything. Bryan saved me from food poisoning.”

Tala’s eyebrows rose slightly. “Really?”

“Yeah. The cream in the fridge was out of date. By almost two months at that.” Ray frowned, running his gaze over the elder. “You look like you just got out of bed.”

Tala smirked. “I did.”

Ray rolled his eyes, shaking his head and smiling. “So whose bed did you wreck today?”

“Kai’s.” Tala’s eyes sparkled evilly. “And yours is next.”

Ray narrowed his eyes. “I’ll have you know that I just fixed my bed.”

“Guess you’ll just have to fix it again.” Tala stepped toward Ray, kneeling in front of him and setting his chin on Ray’s knee, eyes wide with puppy innocence. “I’ve gotta go out tonight, remember? I’m going to miss you…”

Ray tried to bite back his smile. “You’ll be back late.”

“Actually, no. It’s going to go so late they’ve offered us rooms at the hotel.”

“You’ll only need one room.” Ray felt his breath catch in his throat as Tala set his hands on Ray’s knees before slowly gliding them over his thighs. “Can I ask you something?”

“Mm.”

“Is sex the only thing you ever think about?”

Tala chuckled. “I think about other things, such as winning, world domination… you know, the usual.”

Ray couldn’t help but laugh as Tala pushed himself up, lips playing over Ray’s neck. “You really should be in a mental institution you know.”

“Probably.” Tala chuckled, setting his knee between Ray’s legs as the other lay back on the bed. He pressed his lips to the others, smirking. “Admit it, Ray. You can’t get enough of us, can you?”

Ray moaned softly as Tala pressed his lips to his, cutting off any chance of answering. Even if he had wanted to, there was no way Ray could have escaped, Tala holding him down gently but in a grip that would turn to steel if Ray tried to wiggle free.

Ray squeezed his eyes closed as he felt Tala work on freeing his sash. Two months ago both Kai and Tala had taken to letting foreplay slide, instead, as the Americans would say, going straight for home. Sure enough, as soon as Tala had removed Ray’s pants he plunged his way inside, Ray biting back a cry before forcing himself to relax, intent on simply enjoying himself.

The bed creaked faintly, Ray gripping Tala’s shoulders as he panted hard, pleasure beginning to replace the pain. But it was empty pleasure, a shell of what it had once been. Ray remembered how once he had been brought to the verge of tears from the bliss, but now he felt hollow, almost wishing it to be over so he could go back to what he was doing. Perhaps this was the result of too much of a good thing.

Ray threw back his head as he came, groaning harshly and hearing Tala echo him as the elder erupted inside. They lay for a moment before Tala kissed him again, no trace of the insistence or demanding nature of before. Pressing his mouth to Ray’s ear, Tala smiled slightly before whispering breathily.

“I love you.”
