Well, Stuart's first day of school was yesterday and he's off at school for the day today. He's pretty happy at the moment and is definitely getting along well with his classmates.
The only not so great thing is the schedule. Since over half of his teachers work in the video game industry he has NO morning classes. His days start at 1 pm and run until 9 pm. That means he gets home around 10 - Clinton is long since asleep at that point.
Clinton is seriously unimpressed, but he'll adapt. It means that we're doing our "dinner"/main meal at lunch time (around 11:30 am) and a light supper instead of the reverse. We all get up in the mornings and spend some family time together and then Stu goes off to work.
It's a good thing we homeschool or he'd almost never see Clinton! This way we're just shifting things so Clinton starts his schoolwork around noon and continues till supper time.
So how cool are his teachers? Well he had a Game Theory class last night and it turns out the teacher worked in the RPG industry on the World of Darkness series of books, then moved into the video game industry. His last gig was as Lead Game Designer on Medal of Honour!
Apparently that's typical of his teachers. They're teaching not because they need the money, but because they enjoy sharing what they know and they're still working as game designers in major studios. Today he has Storyboarding and Game Production. I'm sure it'll be just as cool.
