Continuing on with both our milestone celebration and attempt to try new things, we shall be hosting our very first CLAMP Icon Challenge! I've always wanted to do one of these...
Each member is allowed to sign-up at
that post only for one CLAMP series of their choosing, this occurs on a first come first served basis as there will be no repeats allowed. I may consider opening it up to a second claim if the list is not fully taken at a later date. EDIT: Second claims of any remaining series are now allowed for those members that already took one on and wish to do another
Once you have been granted your series, you must then create 30 different icons using imagery from it, sticking to official artwork only and of course meeting all LJ userpic requirements. Each of these icons must feature at least one of the past themes listed below, a different one each time though. Please be sure to somehow identify which icon fits which theme.
CONCEPTUAL
You must somehow represent the provided concept in your icon. You are not limited to using the actual word itself; you can use a variation of it, one that is similar in meaning or a related term. You can also use phrases and imagery that reflect the theme.
TECHNICAL
Your icon must meet the technical requirements associated with the provided theme. I have linked to ones requiring more explanation for your convenience, but when in doubt please ask for further details.
SONG LYRICS/POETRY/QUOTES/ETC
You must use at least three consecutive words from the provided text, unless it is only 4 words or less in which case you must use the entire thing. It is not necessary to maintain punctuation/letter casing and you may substitue alternate characters for words where appropriate (e.g. and with &) and vice versa. You are not allowed to incorporate any external text with the exception of tinytext/brushes that are purely decorative and not legible.
TEXTURES/BRUSHES
You must use at least one/part of the resource(s) provided. You may colour, cut, crop or combine it/them however you wish, as well as include outside imagery and other materials, so long as it is still clear that you incoporated the provided resource(s).
Please note that I've removed any image, series or set based themes to better suit this challenge.

"Have the courage to live. Anyone can die." by Robert Cody
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." by Albert Einstein
"Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless" by Jamie Paolinetti
"Live and let live" by Unknown
"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on an individual level. It's got to happen inside first. You can take away a man's political freedom and you won't hurt him- unless you take away his freedom to feel. That can destroy him. That kind of freedom can't be granted. Nobody can win it for you." by Jim Morrison
"The only difference between saints and sinners, is that every saint has a past while every sinner has a future" by Oscar Wilde

cloaks After you have completed your set of 30 icons, or before if you prefer to work that way since this is not an anonymous contest, you are to post them in your journal or icon/graphics community for all to see. The post must be public and remain unlocked since I will be linking to it. Then leave a comment here with a link to the post along with your favourite icon from the set like so:

You have about a month to complete the challenge as all 30 icons are due on Saturday, November 6th 13th at 11:59 PM (Midnight) EST.
After the deadline has passed and everyone has submitted, I will be making an entry using each of your selected icons and linking them to their respective icon post for all members to visit and browse. I will then be duplicating this into the userinfo to be our new profile header/graphic, which is great publicity! I will also make each participant a special banner. There are no other prizes associated with this challenge. EDIT: You can get cards for participating it turns out
