There have been a few things I've said in all seriousness to my kids lately that I never thought I'd have to say:

"Pens are not food. Neither are pen caps."

The potty training book I read recommended telling boys to lean forward when sitting down. It was remarkably effective.

(In other words, been there, done that. Enjoyed reading someone else's blog post on the topic ;-)
