A chilly day before thanksgiving. An early afternoon train full of holiday visitors disgorged itself into the bare, steel-columned expanse of Clairbourn's old rail station.
There is some truth to Heraclitus' assertion that you can't step into the same river twice... Lelouch thought as he stepped off the edge of the train door, trailing a bulging leather suitcase on wheels ...But the river always flows the same way.
He wore different clothes. His hair was longer and dyed brown. He had even begun to tan, something unthinkable for him previously. He looked a good five years older.
As the doors closed and the train started to screech away, he shifted the suitcase onto his other shoulder, feeling a twinge of pain. Old wounds...
