Huh! Someone who thought he knew quite a bit but apparently knew far less than he thought. Imagine Orlando, of all people, teaching someone else about vampires.

Excuse me strange and off the cuff comments of late. I had surgery last week and have been under the influence of some major pain killers. It seems that I wrote whatever came into my head at the moment and then read it again later of came to different conclusions.

I adore this story. One of my top ten favorites of all time. I don't think it will ever fall off that list.

Yeah, just the idea of Orlando teaching anyone is hilarious. *g*

And thanks for reading, for real!!!!!

First, the header thing? Really weird. It actually showed up initially and now it's gone again. It's definitely a Firefox issue because it showed up EVERY time with IE 6 (yeah, THAT old one). It's okay, at least I know what it looks like now. (And, all I can say is Nice!)

I really do like Josh. He's even managing to get Orlando to enjoy him. I think he's fitting in so nicely.

Um, as far as Orlando and Karl's bond not going away? It's probably just me not remembering all the 'technical' details, especially as things are so intertwined between Karl-Harry-Orlando, but doesn't the whole being 'unmade' thing break all Orlando's bonds? Or have I just completely misunderstood (and probably missed something)?

I really cannot wait to see Viggo's reaction to all of this. I imagine it will be priceless.

*hugs*

Yeah, the banner thing is completely a Firefox thing. It works consistently in IE and Chrome, so...

As for the unmaking/bonds...no. Remember, Orlando was a mortal when he bonded to Karl (and Harry) as a pet. The only bond that would be in any danger is the Sire/Fledgling bond he shares with Dave. :)

Wahahaha, Orlando, the infant vampire gonna give info to Josh about vampires. Well, at least it took his mind off being pissed with Karl and Harry for a short time.

I think that was part of the plan. *g* Plus, gotta love that Orlando's in a position of authority on vampires. The irony is awesome.

First of all, I just want to say that anything critical that I say about this series is critical from an "if this was a book series that I bought at Barnes and Nobles how would I feel about it" place, not an "I found a random piece of fan fic on the web, what do I think about it place" - so please don't ever think that I am criticizing or don't just LOVE this whole series to pieces.

Just wanted to say that before I say...

I WANT to like Josh, I really, really do... but I just don't yet. I think it's that I'm scared that the whole "I'm very self-assured and know about vampires and have high self esteem" thing is a way to gloss over the whole "I may be self centered and not really pay attention to the feelings of other people that I claim to be important to me, but in the end it's okay because I'm KARL and that makes everything okay" thing that sometimes comes up.

But I am of course on pins and needles waiting for more...

Hey, the fact that you're looking at it from a 'published book' view instead of a 'fan fic' view means a lot. And thanks for the input!

It's okay that you don't like Josh (and may never). To be honest, when the pet bond happened while we were writing it, I was a little unsure myself. He was only supposed to be a quick companion for Karl to blow off steam. Hopefully you'll get to like him, or at least like him more than you do now. :)

And the issue with Karl not really paying attention to everyone else's feelings is a very valid point. It's happened in the past in the series, and will happen again in the future. It's just who he is. I hope, though, that we manage to convey that he is genuinely sorry when he's made aware of it and has got a little better over the years. :)

Hey, man, any and all criticism that comes from an honest place is TOTALLY welcome here, you know that. We've known each other a long time. :)

And, y'know, like Jo said, you may not ever like Josh. You may not like Karl sometimes. And that's fine. But it was really important to us that these characters be flawed - they're not perfect or always likable and they do stupid things and they walk over each other and take each other for granted and I like writing that side to them. Sometimes I don't always like them myself, but I'd much rather write a character that does things I don't like or agree with than a character that always does the right thing, because that's just boring (and I would hope that Jo agrees with me, at least when it comes to these guys.)

Plus, I think it SHOULD take people awhile to warm to Josh. He's the catalyst for a lot of changes within the Karl/Harry/Orlando dynamic, and if everyone warmed to him right away, it'd be too easy.

Totally with you 100% on the flawed characters - that's why I wanted to mention that my comments were more like I was reading a book I bought where I was actually analyzing the plots and characters rather than just general fanfic squee comments - there are very few writers of fanfic that I would tell that I might not like a character that wasn't clearly meant to be a "bad guy" but I think about this series very differently than most fics. :-)

Orlando and Josh are getting along well enough; perhaps the whole situation turns out to be less mess than initialy expected.
The conversation will certainly be very interesting!

*laughs* C'mon, this is them. They can't do anything without it backfiring.
