past the birth weight

Feb 03, 2007 04:42

Growing like a weed. She had dropped down to 3 pounds 14.5 ounces but she started gaining two days or so ago, and now she's up past her birth weight. She's 4 pounds 7.5 ounces right now. That will change by morning. Everytime I see her and call up there, it's higher. She's starting to fill out a little on her legs and she doesn't look quite as ( Read more... )

probably very soon. She's doing really well with the feedings.

I'm not pushing the issue with the latch though, because I have a sneaky feeling she'll be home within a week, and I can practice latching to my hearts content. I've decided that if I really have to, I can pump and bottle feed. It won't be the end of the world. Not preferrable, but not the end of the world. She's getting my milk, and that's what counts, and she's getting bigger by leaps and bounds. I just want her to keep improving so she comes home, and if I have to pump to get her to do that, I'll do it as long as need be.

she cries until they close both tabs on the diaper. it's like turning off a radio. the second tab closes on that diaper, and she's like "ahhh, ok I'm done!"

I saw someone in _March2007_ earlier state, "You're not supposed to use diaper wipes on newborns, use cotton wool" or something to that effect and I raised my eyebrow... have never heard of that before - or know how much truth there is to it.. I think it MIGHT be recommended to use something else since - like you've said before - newborns are very sensative to touch.. and I'm wondering - since she's still so sensative if there is something a little more soothing that can be used? I'm going to talk to my OB about that and see what she says - just struck me as odd.. but this is my first as well and that's not something I've seen anywhere... so what do I know? LOL.

I'm glad she's gaining! I need to come see you guys when she comes home -- but I'm a little reluctant to try to go see her at the hospital. That needs to be your time with her - and I don't want to interfere with that at all. Grow Sabrina!!! Keep us posted.. I'll call you when I get a moment to this weekend.. and away from family for a bit to check on ya.

noone except parents and grandparents are allowed to see her right now. NICU rules. I wish this weren't so, but it is. We had to beg and plead to get them to allow Kodie in to see her. They did, but it was the middle of the night and only for like three minutes.

they don't actually use wipeys on them, they use a cotton steripad thingy that's been wetted and warmed up. they gave me a bag of them to bring home to put on my incision to keep it from getting sweaty. It's not very rough. She just doesn't like bein touched down there. lmao. she's modest. she cries until you close both tabs on the diaper, then stops.

All of the above makes sense :) How are you feeling?

like warmed over cow manure. *sigh* I overslept my pumping. I'm sore, and I slept thirty minutes past my morning cocktail of pills. I'm supposed to be scrambling to catch up on it all, but I'm so tired that I'm just pokeying around, eating my oatmeal and rubbing my eyes.
