I was late to work again because of a tram. I'd tell the boss it was the tram's fault, but I'm late so often that any excuse would sound bad.
Imagine this kid who kept on forgetting to lock the sheep in, and a wolf kept eating a sheep every night. His parents woke up one morning and the kid said, "I was going to lock the door but then the err.. tram was late."
It doesn't sound good even if it's true. Hey... I think someone can make a children's story out of that.
I used to be very punctual to work! The boss used to say he liked my work and that he'd give me a raise, but it never happened. I did stacks of translating and editing work, which is usually pretty expensive.
So here I am being late to work, chatting and surfing the net half the time. I still translate and edit sometimes. I'm super efficient when I actually do work. Anyway, I get paid to slack off! ... But I don't know who's getting the better deal here.
A career is different from a job and I hope I can make that distinction. I really hope I don't make similar compromises as a game programmer.
Anyway it's the trams I wanted to talk about! They're late every day! I'm not keen about complaining and doing nothing, but I'm yet to conjure up a plan to get Melbourne's public transport up and running again. Maybe I'll write a letter...
