Steve seeing off his soldiers who are deploying today
All day, I kept thinking it was Saturday--it certainly felt like one.
We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and I kept thinking it'd be busy around 10am. Then, Steve reminded me it was Friday and that it'd be dead...ahhh ok! Then, we went to the post office and filled out the paperwork for passports. The entire process took maybe 10 minutes and there was no line--sweet! We should be getting them in the mail in 3 weeks.
We drove to Fort Hood and I got my DoD decals for my car--barely a wait at the visitor center for them. I guess it also helped that we went between 10-2pm when the post is open to everyone--everyone who was waiting for a temporary pass left the place and drove in.
We went to the Ironhorse gym where Steve had maybe 7 soldiers flying out today in the advance party. He shook hands and wished them well--told them he'd see them in a few days. I havent decided if I'm going to the gym for our goodbye yet. I probably will since he has to report there around noon on Sunday...bleh.
Steve was sleepy so I drove back while he slept and stopped at the Lexus dealership so they could attach my license plates--there wasnt a holder on the front bumper, but apparently it's stored in the trunk? I had no idea, but now I'm all set :o)
We went to Five Guys for a late lunch as per Steve's list of places before leaving. Now we are home--he's packing his ruck sacks and we'll probably head out to watch The Wrestler later on. Overall, we had a pretty productive day thus far!
