Thai food & shopping

Yesterday I made Thai food for dinner :o) I made a delicious tom kha soup that seemed richer than the ones we've gotten in restaurants. I found a recipe from a chef's blog and followed it word for word except for one ingredient that I couldn't find in any store which was kaffir lime leaves. Everything else I got and it still was super tasty It's a hot & sour soup with coconut milk, chili oil, galangal, lemongrass, fish sauce, cilantro, lime juice and a pinch of brown sugar.

We had gone to MT Supermarket in the Chinatown Center in Austin since HEB doesnt carry some of the ingredients. It's always nice to be in touch with my Asian roots :o) I only WISHED we lived closer to here because STUFF IS CHEAPER! 1 sad puny stalk of lemongrass is $3 at HEB whereas at MT, it's $0.99 for 4 HUGE stalks! We bought a few cans of coconut milk at $.79 each when they're $2 at HEB.

We had lunch at TC Noodle House before Steve's softball practice so that was pretty good. Steve got orange chicken because he ALWAYS has to and then it always let down just a bit because it's not as good as Din Ho's version. I encourage change :o)

I went to 2 different Targets looking for a swim suit, but no luck. They're already gone *sigh* I picked up Steve from practice and drove him to is game and went to Ross to kill time. I ended up buying a really cute brown sundress fo $10 and a pair of Privo ballet flats for $20! They're super comfy :o)

my new kicks
When we got home, I made green curry with chicken :o) It was really good and REALLY SPICEY! Steve could barely finish it and I made it with 2 glasses of water. I had some for lunch today and it didnt seem as bad. Maybe because my taste buds were burnt off already by the soup?

Anyway, I dropped Salado at the groomers for his summer shave down. I stopped by Old Navy and they had swim suits at 50% off! I was lucky and found a few in my size and a set since I'l be tubing and going to Schlitterbahn when Becky hoodwink comes down! It's cute, has some ruffles and has pretty purples and aquas. I also bought a few shirts and one for Steve--cant leave him out. I had a coupon for $10 off $50 so that helped.

I came home and got the movie Teeth on demand. Since it's a movie about a girl with teeth down in her you know where, Steve wanted NO part..haha! But overall, I liked it! It reminds me of a much milder version of the movie I Spit on Your Grave. Now THAT movie is jacked up.

Salado should be ready soon--when I come back, I think I'm going to start de-cluttering and start tossing things out that I dont need. I also have TONS TONS TONS of clothes and shoes to donate...

I bought some Israeli couscous and I want to make something with it for dinner...off to Google for recipes!
