On Saturday, Steve and I slept in and relaxed. Steve woke up with a splitting headache so I was trying to take care of him. I made banana wheat pancakes on the griddle and I let him nap while I watched a movie. In the afternoon, we met up with Ken & Veronica along with their friends James and his gf Melissa. We walked around the Domain, stopped by some stores, including Coach where I started a wish list for Steve (had no idea they had this feature) and added the wallet that matches my purse now..teehee :o) Just in case he needed some help on things to buy for my birthday...haha!
It was around dinner time and we were all hungry so Veronica suggested going to Kobe, which is a teppenyaki place. Last year since Steve was deployed, I celebrated my birthday with Ken & Veronica since Ken and I shared the same birthday. So, we went there again, and it just went downhill from there...

happy birthday to me?
First off, they forgot to turn on the grill so we had to wait longer and they gave us free edamame. Then our cook came who was a short, stout Hispanic man. He starts the clinging and clanging of the spatulas and utensil and while he's twirling things, the spatula flies off his hand and hits me on the abdomen. I shook it off, but he dropped a LOT of things numerous times. He was probably new, whatever.
He asked if we wanted to see fire so we were all like...sure. So he did the fire, then asks if we want to see some more fire. We say no, but he proceeds to do another fire demo. Ok fine. So he starts the cooking process which for whatever reason took a REALLY long time. He was very messy and clumsy--while plating veggies to us, the veggies fall off his spatula en route to Veronica's plate. He got rice on Ken's lap and he some how sprayed soy sauce onto me. James and Melissa had lost their appetite from watching him cook. The cook also portioned the meat very strangely. He gave me more chicken to me (I had gotten the steak, chicken and shrimp trio) than to James who had ordered JUST chicken. It was pretty messed up.
The whole time, he was really into making fire. The token volcano seriously took him like 10 mins to stack up and fire up. From start until we all got our food, it took 2 hours, which is pretty ridiculous! James and Melissa complained to the manager so they took their meals off after negotiating (first the manager wanted to give them $10 gift cards, but they dont live around here. Then he offered 10% off, but they didnt think that was enough so he eventually took it all off). Ken complained because of the time, and getting splattered with food so they got 10% off. Steve and I were the only ones that paid full price, we probably could have said something, but by now, it was almost 3 hours and we just wanted to peace out!

But I did get cake & chopsticks
So after we finally got out of dinner, we went to BB Rovers for some beers and we played Nertz until 10:15pm since we were going to the 10:40pm showing of You Dont Mess with the Zohan. It wasnt as good as some of the other Adam Sandler movies, but it had its funny moments and Steve was deciphering all the Hebrew for me...lol. We got out a few mins short of 1am and went home. I gave Steve a haircut, and we eventually went to bed at 3am.
The next morning, we met up with the same gang and we went to the
Parade of Homes which is basically touring multi-million homes inside and out. Unfortunately, there were no pictures allowed :o( The houses were AMAZING! We toured 4 houses that ranged from $2.6 million to $4 million and were 6800 sq ft to 8600 sq ft (there was one that was over 10,000 sq feet but was sold last week and taken off the tour). They all had views of a lake, some had elevators, infinity edge pools, one had a built in computer in the bath tub complete with a waterproof keyboard, another had a TV in the mirror, others had a butlers pantry, 4 car garages, guest rooms outside of the house and they all had walk in closets bigger than our guest rooms...it was crazy! Their outdoor living spaces were bigger than our house--and it's not like we have a small house! They decorated the houses so nicely--they all seemed to have an organic and rustic feel and I really do love the terra cotta roof tops. Maybe one day, we'll be there :o) hehe.
After the tour, I dropped Steve off at his softball practice and I went home to prep food and took a nap since I slept 6 hours last nite. I picked Steve up 2 hours later, napped again and just relaxed with him until he went to play his softball game (his team is undefeated still).
Today was another day of the usual--applying for jobs, housework, and grocery shopping. Tomorrow I'm sure will be pretty much the same with exception of going to Fort Hood for the monthly Steering Committee meeting. Fun times.
