Today started off with our usual Sunday ritual, breakfast out :o) We had some time to kill before Steve had his softball meet up so we went to Circuit City so I could check out the digital cameras. After the case leaked and soaked my Canon (which still works, except for the flash), I decided that I was done with waterproof cases and will just use the waterproof camcorder/camera from now on. So as my everyday camera, I was checking out 2 cameras that just came out:
Panasonic TZ5 and the
Nikon S600.
When we got to Circuit City, I was surprised they had the Nikon on display since Amazon said it wouldnt be released until May, but the battery was dead so I couldnt play with it :o( I asked about the Panasonic one and they had one in the box that the salesman was nice enough to take out and show me so I could see the size. He suggested the new Sony cameras they got in, but I dont know how I feel about the whole touch screen deal. It's nice to have the super large screen, but I hate fingerprints on the screen! We left the store empty handed and went to Best Buy to see if they had the cameras with battery power so I could actually use them.
Best Buy had the Nikon, but not the Panasonic. I played with the Nikon and though it seemed to take nice pictures, it was slow :o\ I had really high expectations for it, but was let down...boo. I checked out some other cameras, but that Panasonic was still #1 on my list for a few reasons: 1) 3" LCD which would be an upgrade from my 2.5", 2) 10x optical zoom vs the 3x zoom I have now, 3) wide angle lens (and a Leica lens at that), 4) HD video output, 5) image stabilization, 6) the previous model had fantastic reviews and I got to play with that on the store.
When I got home, I went ahead and bought if off Amazon :o) It's got free shipping, is $65 cheaper than the store and tax free! I'm super excited and cant wait to start playing with it...especially for our upcoming cruise to Alaska...oh yeah!!
After that, Steve left for practice and I was left to fend for myself at the grocery store. I spent $160, but that should feed us for a while. I came home to unload and had to head back out to return a DVD (we had rented No County for Old Men--all I can say is WOW), I had a check to deposit at the bank, stop my CVS for my Rx and also Walmart to check for more Rip It's for Steve. Lisa called me while I was out to ask if I could drop her keys off so I did that and continued on my way driving around town.
I finally got home and settled down by around 6pm. Steve had a farewell to attend right after softball so he wont be home for dinner. While I was out all day, I had beef stew cookin' in the crock pot and it'll be ready in about an hour :o) I took a lil' peek and it looks/smells awesome!
So until then, I guess I could do some house work...
P.S. I did some music downloading and this is currently the song that's been stuck in my head--it's replacing Miley Cyrus!
