the rest of the week
Tuesday: After work, I had to rush home and pack the dog cookies for Anne's dog and Vanessa's zarahemt dogs before meeting Lisa lkf03 and Misti concertina_40 for a carpool up to Killeen for an Army Wife Christmas dinner at Olive Garden. We were stuck in traffic so we got there late so Lisa and I got stuck at the end of the table with an Army wife who had brought her husband without telling anyone so it was kind of awkward. But, dinner was good and I had a lot of leftovers! Before heading back home, I stopped by Angela's canadagirl and dropped off some more dog cookies for her gals.
Wednesday: Work was having a food day on Thursday so I spent the night preparing and cooking marinated chicken breasts ($20 worth) and ginger rice. Jenn renewedme and Jason drove down to pick up the couch set that the leather ones will be replacing. I was very surprised that BOTH the sofa and loveseat fit in the bed of her truck with a cover on and they were able to close everything with no problem! Now my living room looks so empty, but not for long :o)
Becky hoodwink called to say that she FINALLY got my xmas gifts! I sent her an assortment of goodies and she opened them with me on the phone so I could hear her reaction--it was quite amusing! But I'm glad she liked all of the gifts I got her :o)
Thursday: Food day at work was a success! Since not many people brought "real" food or hot items, when it came time to heating up the chicken and rice, people were all over it. As soon as the cover came off the rice, people could smell the ginger and migrated towards it :o) Another girl made broccoli/rice casserole which also went fast, too! I got lots of compliments on the foodies so it was all good :o) After work, I went to the Elephant Room which is a small jazz bar in Austin for Malana's 26th birthday! I drove around looking for free street parking and ALMOST had one except a truck cut me off and stole it :o( I eventually gave up and paid for parking in a garage. Malana and Jaime greeted me out front and we ventured in. It's a cozy place and there were a good number of people there! I sat at a table with Jaime and he bought me a drink. We chatted for most of the time since it had been a while since I had caught up with him (we used to sit next to one another at work). By 10:30pm, I headed back home and passed out--it was a late night for me especially since I had to work the next day.
Friday: This morning was a rough one, but luckily we were given the option to leave early if we chose to so I left just after 2pm. I stopped by Bath & Body Works to stock up on their hand soap (bought 10 bottles) for the year before heading home. I checked out a new grocery store in town which was wasnt as busy as the one I usually went to so that was a plus. I also mowed my front yard and chatted with a neighbor for a while before meeting up with Veronica and Ken to see The Kite Runner. I cried in the movie, Veronica bawled her eyes out. I still liked the book better, but I enjoyed the movie.
This weekend should be a busy one! I want to shampoo the carpets, mow my back yard and clean/organize the garage and moving some storage stuff to the attic if I can remember how to get up there!
