Saturday was our company holiday party. It was held this year at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin so I got my hair all gussied up. I got to the plaza early before my appointment so I spent some time at Yankee Candle and bought 2 big jars since I had a coupon :o) I bought shortbread cookie & fall harvest (it reminds me of fruit loops). Then I met with my stylist to figure out what to do with my hair...
This was the first time trying to do a formal do with short hair. When you have long hair, you can do whatever, but with short, your options are limited. She looked at my cut and said it was fun so we'd have to play upon that. She did some weird thing where she tucked the back under and used a bazillion bobby pins to pin it under. Then the top part of my hair was curled and teased. Then the front and sides were curled and let loose. Then she hairsprayed the HELL out of my head, but it lasted the whole night with no problem :o)
When I got home, I had 45 mins to get ready before heading over to Lisa
lkf03 & Chris'
chrisfalcone00 apartment. My make up for the most part was already done--I just had to stick on my fake eyelashes. MAC #7 are the best! I used them for my wedding and they really make your eyes pop without looking like porn star eyelashes...lol. Then I slipped on the dress, the shoes, wrapped myself in a pashmina and braved the freezing cold!
All three of us met up with Misti
concertina_40 at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner before heading off to our party. I skipped out on dessert because my dress was so tight--lol. But we headed over to the hotel which was within the same plaza as the restaurant and picked out a table to set ourselves at. They had a buffet arranged, but judging from food 2 years ago, we knew it wouldnt be good and were right when Chris later on got food and it was all luke warm and mediocre.
LK & CK all dressed up!
us again by the tree and tables of dessert
The night started off pretty slow because people were eating so we kind of just hung around and I drank water (gave my drink tickets to Crazy Lisa)
But then we decided to go "gamble" with $30k in chips. We started at roulette first--Lisa and Chris betting! I kept losing :o\
Then we moved onto blackjack which was more fun! I actually won some! But then eventually bet big and lost big...I think that's how we all went down.
Me & Crazy Lisa!
Malana, me & Lindsay!
After we had gambled our chips away, we didn't bother to stay for the door prizes (we never win *sigh*) so we left. Crazy Lisa ended up winning the $500 prize--jealous! We had stayed there almost 3 hours which was surprising since it didn't seem that long, but we braved the cold once again and called it a night.
Sunday, I headed up to Killeen to Jenn's
renewedme house to drop off her wedding gift and meet Jason. I hung out for a bit before making my way over to Copperas Cove to the in-laws so I could give them their Chanukkah gifts. Steve's dad was in ok shape--I guess whenever they go to Walmart, he always gets sick so he was getting over a cold and had to use some oxygen that morning, but that was it. His arms were pretty rough looking--lots of cuts and bruises. Steve's mom was thinking it was because he started taking blood thinners. Regardless, he was overall in good condition and still vastly better than where he was 4 months ago.
After they had opened their gifts, I had some homemade carrot cake with fake cream cheese (but it tasted like the real thing--amazingly) before helping Steve's mom run some errands around town. When we returned, I decided to head back home since I still had to grocery shop and I didn't know when Veronica and Ken were going to be back in town (I was watching their dog, Joey). So I headed home and later got a text saying that that Veronica and Ken were stuck in traffic so I ended up shopping at HEB before coming home, eating dinner and finishing the rest of my cards to send out.
By 9pm, they made it to my house to pick up Joey. Overall, he was a good dog, but on the first day, we had some issues with him trying to mark all over the place (he's not fixed). I had to put him in Coco Loco's crate that first night, but he was fine the rest of the weekend. He kept trying to hump Salado which was entertaining since he's 1/3 his size! But overall, a good pooch.
Today was back to work. The day went by pretty fast and then I came home to bake 2 batches of doggie cookies. I had made these for gifts from my dogs to my friends' dogs and they were a big hit! I made some last week for my pooches and since watching Joey, my supply had run low so I made some more tonight. It's really easy and the dogs love it! I got these metal cookie cutters that are WAY better than the plastic ones I used to have and come in different sized bones and a puppy paw :o) Here is the recipe in case anyone wants to make it for their pooch:
I N G R E D I E N T S
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup rye flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 cups cracked wheat (bulgur)
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk powder
4 tsp salt
2 cups chicken stock
1/4 oz active dry yeast (one package)
1 egg
1 Tbsp milk
I N S T R U C T I O N S
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Combine, in a big bowl, the flours, cornmeal, milk powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water; let it sit for a few minutes, until it bubbles.
Add the chicken stock to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Add the liquid to the dry ingredients. Knead about 3 minutes. The dough should be stiff.
Flour a board with cornmeal and roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch Cut out biscuits with cookie cutters in appropriate shapes, and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Mix the egg and milk and use to brush tops of biscuits (for shine), then bake the biscuits for 45 minutes at 300 degrees.
Turn off the heat and leave biscuits in the oven overnight. This will make the biscuits bone hard.
Voila! And this is the result (though I skip the egg/milk part for the shine)
In any case, I have plenty to share so those with dogs, expect them coming your way!
Anyway, I should to go to bed. Steve
ltsteve2005 got me a new set of
red satin PJs with matching slippers from Victoria's Secret--they're SUPER comfy and I feel like Hugh Hefner when I wear them :o)
Gnite all!
