Majel Barrett Roddenberry 1932-2008...The First Lady of Star Trek

Dec 21, 2008 00:06

To the Roddenberry Family,

There are not sufficient words in all the languages of humanity that can possibly express my deepest sympathy and condolences. You do not know me, and will most likely never see me face to face, however I share your pain. Not only as a life-long fan of the phenomenon that has been the late Gene Roddenberry's dream and vision, but also as a man who has, in the course of life lost loved ones.

You will have no doubt received an infinite amount of letters, emails, and well wishes. I will keep mine brief since this is far too difficult a time to waste precious minutes on reading the thoughts and feelings of others. This is your time to begin the healing process. Majel Barret Roddenberry will forever live in my heart and memory, not only as the voice of a computer, an extravagantly dressed, overbearing mother, or a kind and gentle nurse; she will live on in the eternity of the hearts and minds of those who were inspired by her brilliant performances, and well-earned praises from the industry of entertainment and beyond.

In closing I wish to share a message that was passed on to me by my grandmother: I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting. I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. And most of all, I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

I will pray much and often for you in this time of great sadness. For your family deserves nothing less for having brought into existence such a dream and having sustained such a dream for long enough to become a legacy.

Sincerely and respectfully,
Mr. Christopher John Kady, R.M.A.
