June Round-up

Jul 02, 2010 08:51

June wasn't actually that much better than May, but my numbers are a little bit up, for both writing and posting. July will likely be posting madness, though, possibly starting later today if I'm feeling up to it. Anyway. In June I wrote 38,558 words and posted 10 stories in 2 fandoms, ranging from 1300 to 2400 words, plus finished an original fic at ~6000 words. And got some RL stuff taken care of, which was good too. Even though yesterday was a write-off thanks to a wretched head cold that spoiled my Canada Day, I have high hopes for July. It's always been a good month for me.

So on to movies and books, June 2010:

Transylvania 6-5000
St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold
Kick-Ass
Zombieland
The Losers
The Broken Hearts Club
Clue
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut
TV: Justified Season 1
TV: Luther Season 1
The Secret Diries of Miss Anne Lister
Jurassic Park
TV: Fringe Season 1
Chicago

Sometimes I am impressed by my own capacity to watch television. Or appalled. Occasionally both things simultaneously.

Nicole Kimberling - Ghost Star Night
I actually really, really adored this book. I sort of picked it up on a whim, but the worldbuilding was fantastic and the relationship between the protagonists built realistically and I found it all really satisfying.

David Cordingly - Seafaring Women
Okay, I had a lot to say about this book and very little of it good, so I'm in the middle of writing an actual blog post about it. Will probably link when it's done. But in short, for a book called "Seafaring Women" it was shockingly patronising of women. (Or maybe it wasn't shocking, and that was what made me so angry.)

Other Ebooks
Josh Lanyon - The Dickens With Love
Reilly Ryan - Ship of Dreams

And now I am determined to get well today because if I am sick for Pride this weekend, heads will roll.
