"new" computer
So, I have not been on the computer for a few days now for the pure and simple fact that I am
1. Annoyed with the people I chat with
yea, I was going to add more reasons, but i really can't think of any.
So, with not being on the compter for 2+ hours everyday I have been spending time with family and such. Just like two days ago my Grandpa asked why I wasn't attached to my desktop, and I told him I just wasn't happy with the computer (not the box, the people who happen to live inside). My Grandpa, the computer engineer, took it as I hated the box, so what did he do?! He gave my computer a facelift! I am so happy! haha, I got my old desktop when I was in 8th grade and it has been loyal every since. The only thing I have ever done for it is give it more memory(sorry computer!) and fill it up with random stuff.
So what did my grandpa do? Well since you asked:
1. New Moniter (yay for flat screen 19"!) haha I used to have the big boxy moniter and I couldn't justify asking for a new one since mine works just fine.
2. Deletion of all stupid files. (old word files, games I downloaded as a freshman, just old junk. the only thing not deleted: pictures <3)
3. Proper installation of my webcam. I originally put it on my mom's computer and screwed it up, but my grandpa put it on my own computer, yay! =]
4. MORE memory! whoot! haha, it is so freakin fast now that he put HELLA memory in it, when I put memory in it it barely improved.
5. he put ink in my nice printer! so being a Craigslist fanatic I bought this beautiful printer for like 20 bucks that prints reallllly nice but I couldn't afford to put ink in it because the cartridge costs $80, no thanks! but thanks grandpa!
6. New Scanner, with the stipulation that he can scan pictures and I won't complain.
7. External memory thing to eventually transfer pictures onto. ok, I don't know how to do it, so he probably will in the near future.
8. New word! yesssss Word 2007. I'm not a fan of mac and I don't like Vista(yes, he wouldb'e bought me a mac if I totally begged, but I can't use the software because I am computer illiterate), so word is perfect for me =]
9. a new mouse!
10. he moved it from it's old place in the living room to the other room onto a better desk.
11. OH, and a new DVD thing and Disk drive thingy, the old ones were.. well.. tempermental.
ok, one of the only catches:
1. I have to have a picture of my deceased Grandma (his former wife) as my desktop image. ok, to me this is fine because I love/loved my grandmother, but... a 19" picture of her? If she were alive she would beat me with my computer.
So I think that is it... It's so wonderful! oh mannn. lol, he told me not to expect a laptop anytime soon because of my desktop facelift, but I can live with that! haha. OH, and another perk is that my Brother is completely envious becuase, well, he has my "old" computer with all the flaws =P (i.e. practically no memory, broken disk thingy, chunky moniter, HA, LAME, YOU SHOULD'VE SPENT TIME WITH GRANDPA!)
