Long time no write....
I am not sure who is still out there, but things have been moving around here. After a year of having basement creature house helpers, we have been living alone again these past few months. During this time Krys and I have been doing great and we even took a trip north to see my mother, sister and nephew.
We also finished the upstairs remodel. That is right, we actually finished something. To top it off, the day we finished it someone came over and rented it. He will not move in until the 23rd or so, which should give us enough time to drywall the foyer. We still have to carpet the stairwell, but we are in no rush.
We did not move any rooms, but the kitchen and bathroom have been completely gutted and all the surfaces have been replaced. The kitchen is a little larger, has more cabinet space, and a limestone backsplash. In the bathroom we managed to save the tub and ceiling, but changed out everything else. No more mold, no more tacky paneling. The other big change is no more carpet........the oak floors we salvaged from the downstairs turned out great. The only downside is that we could not figure out how to enclose the bedroom so it is still open and lofty....which is part of its charm. It is a shame we could not afford to replace any of those damn aluminum windows, but at least they are double paned and have screens now. The next step is to actually finish some of the rooms downstairs....but one thing at a time.
So, if anyone wants to come over and take a look at the place before it is lived in you should drop by sometime in the next week or so. I will post pictures soon, but it is much more impressive in person....particularly if you knew the apartment before the remodel.
