My Dad

So, not a lot of people know this, but on Wednesday my dad went in for surgery. It was discovered that he has a fistula as well as extreme diverticulitis (something that is common on my dad's side). He was told that this surgery was going to be relatively simply, considering what it could be, and that they had to remove a few inches of his intestinal tract/rectum to hopefully fix the problem. He was going to be out of work for a bit, but he had money saved up for it.

He got out of surgery, and was told by the doctor that it was more serious than they thought. That Wednesday's surgery was only the first, and that he shouldn't expect to go back to work until 2012.

He already has so many medical problems, diabetes, gout, arthritis, hep. c, and now this is piling up on top of it.

I'm worried for him. I never really knew the feeling of intense pain when thinking your parent might die, but I can't help but feel that he doesn't have much time left. I can keep him in my thoughts, and try to stay positive... but fuck, I'm terrified.

dad, fear, family
