.com versus .ca

I love the Amazon website. I usually buy off of it rather than Chapters because of the better selection and price. Well. With all of the hoopla about the Canadian dollar rising I decided to check out Amazon.com rather than Amazon.ca and boy was I surprised. The prices on Amazon.com are WAY better than those on Amazon.ca. I made a little list TV dvds that I would like and was blown away at the price difference - even with shipping.

Here is the list:
Nip/Tuck seasons 1 - 4
Weeds season 2
The Office season 3

Amazon.ca price: $312.79 (w/ free shipping)
Amazon.com price $189.87 (w/ $23 shipping)
factoring the exchange the price is $189.17....
all of this presents you with a savings of $123.62!!!!

I like to buy Canadian as much as I can but that much of a price difference is ridiculous (not to mention tempting).  Plus Canadian shoppers, rumour has it that Amazon does a drop ship into Canada which means that more than likely you do not have to pay customs and duties.
