Sherlock Ramble and Other DVDs - SPOILERS

SPOILERS for Sherlock (BBC) s.2 - don’t read if you don’t want to be clubbed over the head with clues, quotes and the plots.

Finally my Sherlock s.2 DVD has arrived, I’ve watched and enjoyed all the commentaries, but they haven’t done one for Reichenbach! How could they not do one! Damn it, I really wanted the Reichenbach commentary with Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and the two writers; they’re so good at doing them. Oh well, I guess everyone was too busy what with The Hobbit and god knows what else. I’m getting the soundtrack too, s.1 is coming soon, but s.2, which has some really lovely music isn’t out yet… why? Get a move on before I spend what little spare cash I have on something else!

I also want Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011), but I think I’ll wait a bit and see if the price comes down in a few months and maybe get the Blu-ray version for the extras, I hate that, when the just put the extras on the Blue-ray. I don’t regret buying Sherlock s.1 when it first came out, I used my Christmas money, but now it’s only about a fiver! Go buy it if you haven’t got it already, it would be worth it just for the episodes, but you get commentaries too and the unaired pilot.1!

I also bought, again with Christmas money, Bad Day at Black Rock, Pat and Mike and Keeper of the Flame, all old films starring Spencer Tracy. The latter two also star Katherine Hepburn; they were such a good team, great chemistry. I’m resisting the urge to say like Cumberbatch and Freeman, okay so I’m not, but I’ve got Reichenback on now and I can’t help it!

Never straying far from Sherlock, my least favourite episode (if you can call it that), is Hounds of Baskerville. Scandal was so sumptuous and rightly so considering the subject, Reichenback is tense, frenetic and heart breaking, so the starkness of Hounds gets a bit lost between them. I still love it and understand why it was done that way, you can’t make an army base plush, and it’s more of a horror story than the other instalments, but it’s a bit jarring after Scandal even though it’s a good story with many great moments in it.

I love Sherlock (BBC), I love Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock, and I love the Robert Downey Junior/Jude Law films, so guess where some more of the Christmas money is going! Speaking of Game of Shadows, when is it out?

Oh Molly! She was great in Reichenback and Mycroft, what were you thinking!? And Crikey, Jim is several sandwiches short of a picnic! And poor, poor John! Oh, and Sherlock in Scandal after the C.I.A bloke hurt Mrs Hudson, and John’s little smile before he took her downstairs - I could ramble forever - love it all!

There’s a great Tumblr account that tries to source all the things used in Sherlock, the coat - costs a fortune, the phone Irene used in Scandal costs even more of one! The teapot the cushions, the ties, the lipstick and on and on, have a look HERE if you’ve a few thousand pounds to spare *lol*

Back to Reichenback…

“No one could fake being such an annoying dick all the time”, nicely delivered John :) Oh no, they’re off to arrest Sherlock. Ooh, the burnt gingerbread man, that’s like my attempts at cooking, No, no, don’t trash talk Sherlock in front of John! “Take my hand”, “Now people will definitely talk.” The scene with Molly in the Morgue! “I need YOU.” John and Mycroft, “The most dangerous criminal mind the world has ever seen”, “He just sat there, starring into the darkness”, “Moriarty wanted Sherlock destroyed, and you have given him the perfect ammunition.” The lab at Barts, “She’s dying… you machine!”, “Sod this, sod this, you stay here if you want, on your own”, “Alone is what I have, alone protects me”, “No, friends protect people”, the sad sad look as John storms out the door. The roof! “You’re ordinary, you’re on the side of the angels.” “Oh, I may be on the side of the angles, but don’t think for one second that I.am. one. of. them.” My old fan-girly heart is piter-pattering all over the place in glee! This can’t be healthy!
