Japanese Hanafuda 'Flower Cards' - 花札

Oct 06, 2015 20:13

This is a traditional Japanese card game, but for me it’s a little bit of Japan that will fit in the house!

If you’re interested there are apps you can download for your phone or tablet, and websites too, for a more in-depth look at the game, here’s one with the rules: http://www.hanafuda.com/rules.

I bought my deck from Amazon (UK), the cards very small, but sturdy, and feel as if they’re made of plastic, (pictures at the end of the post).

花札 (はなふだ):
  • 花 【はな】 (n) flower, petal, (P)
  • 札 【ふだ】 (n) (1) token, label, (2) ticket, card, (3) charm, talisman, (P)
