I play a couple of instruments. I don't really know how. If I try to think about it, nothing comes. I can't explain it, not to someone else, not to myself, not unless I put a lot of effort into it and fiddle around with my hands. When I'm actually doing it, though, it's pretty effortless. I have been teaching myself guitar for about five years now, I am just starting to get it. It is just starting to flow. I had lost patience with it, but I just kept on doin, ya know. All of the sudden, I was tinkering with a piano and getting some tunes out. It's like the world opened up. You have to be in the mindset though, you're right. Pretty soon, just picking up the instrument will do that to you. You will get into the zen of it. Keep the rhythm. Hit those notes.

Oh, I've been playing on and off for years and years, both piano and guitar. And I've had some lessons and a lot of keeping at it myself.

It's odd how motor memory works. Before I had a little phone that remembered a bunch of phone numbers for me, I'd keep them all in my head. But really, it was more that I kept them in my hands. I could punch out a number more easily than I could tell someone what it was.

That's how all the students here remember their campus ID number.

When I ask them for it, they hold up their right hand and punch it in on an imaginary keypad.

That makes a lot of sense. The same phenomenon occurs when you write something out. For some reason, using a motor skill commits something to memory faster.

And yes, you do see Tom Servo.

You don't know my plans, good sir.

I don't really know all of the plans either, but I know that I am going north soon, but with a little bit of an eastish direction rather than pointedly west.

Things will happen someday. I hesitate to mention them until they're more certain.
