Maripolarama
Details:
88 North 6th Street bt. Berry and Wythe Streets, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Free Red Stripe and Bacardi. This, IMHO, is top notch, and not just because of the three- hour open bar. Back in the 80s, NYC was a cool town (no matter what Guiliani sez). Maripol, back then, was Madonna's stylist and, in between other projects, an art director and jewelry designer. The hang was sweet: Madonna, Basquiat, Grace Jones, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Vincent Gallo, Anna Sui and other nobodies. Maripol played photographer and documented all the good clean fun with her trusty polaroid. This party (at a clothing store I'd definitely frequent if I had $300 for a hoodie) is the release of her new book. RSVP to rsvp@nomdeguerre.net
