Remember how at the beginning of this month,
my touchpad freaked out? Well, since it works fine with an external mouse and I was busy with finals/Christmassy things/etc, I never got it fixed.
I was supposed to call Dell tech support today to see what could be done, but after spending some time trying to psych myself up to make a stupid phone call (I haaaate the phone), I realized I could just ask my questions at the Dell online chat thing. (Take that, phone!) So I explained my problem to the tech dude and he asked if he could remotely take control of my computer so he could investigate. After frantically changing my desktop and hiding anything obviously embarrassing, I said okay. Has anyone done this before? It's so weird! Someone else controls your mouse and does stuff on your computer from miles away! Craziness!
I was told to spend the whole session in front of my laptop (it took a couple hours), during which time I alternated between boredom and freaking out that he might go exploring and discover all my embarrassing little secrets. (OH GOD, the first thing he did was search "touch" in my start menu, since it's a touchpad issue and of course what comes up at the top is a bookmark of a
boy_touching entry and right below that is the song "I Touch Myself" //////o\\\\\\).
After all that, nothing got fixed, which I pretty much expected, but it was still sad. This means I have to send it in and get my damn touchpad replaced, and it will apparently take 14 days to get my laptop back to me. DDDDDDDD: At least I still have my last laptop around and it's usable, but this is still dumb. Computers should not have problems when they are 3-4 months old! It makes me cranky!
Um. In much happier news, I went to a lovely Jason Webley concert tonight. He decided to do a show where he only played songs that he hadn't performed in at least a year, songs that were brand new, covers he'd never played for people before, and holiday songs. He wrote a solstice song that he wanted to be appropriate for any solstice, which goes:
[To the tune of "Silent Night"]
Longest night.
Shortest night.
Do some ancient pagan rite.
Tree in the living room.
I don'tknow why...
Four more days
'til the Fourt of July
The sun is now farthest or closest.
Blah blah blah la dee da blah.
The opening band, Corpus Callosum, was really great, too. They had puppets and tons of crazy instruments and a jacket of pornography and a woman on stilts who hung glowy things around the venue. I bought their CD, which I am excited to listen to. And I got to see
librarynoise there! It was good times.
Also, because I honestly cannot remember who I've thanked yet, THANK YOU SO MUCH to

misfit87 for the incredible cards. I ♥ my friends so much.
(It's possible I forgot to write down a name or two, but all the cards are currently strung up as decorations & I don't want to take them down to check).
ps: My face feels especially soft today. I wonder if this is due to accidentally washing it with nail polish remover. Hmmmm. I could be onto something.
