Enter Clownette

Time: Night
Location: One of the streets approaching the circus.

That night, there was a clown stalking a little girl.

Now, that’s not as sinister as it may sound. The clown was Squeakles, and her intent was not malicious- at least, not for the moment. No, the little girl had simply caught her eye- to be specific, the little girl’s pigtails had caught her eye. They were fantastically curly- the kind of curl that sprang back into place when you tugged on it- and tied with a brightly polka-dotted ribbon.

This, at least, was what drew Squeakles’ attention before she noticed the gigantic, oversized lollipop that the pig-tailed girl was carrying. It was the most marvelous lollipop she’d ever seen- and being a clown, she had seen a lot of lollipops. Big as a dinner plate, it was looped with swirls of every colour imaginable; colours so bright as to only be fairly described as neon.

Squeakles wanted that lollipop.

Which was why she was now creeping up behind the girl, using a highly-exaggerated but nearly silent tip-toeing gait. When she was within reaching distance, her left hand shot out, grabbing ahold of the little girl’s delicate swoop of a nose and wrenching it to one side as her right hand snatched away that glorious, glorious lollipop.

“Got your nose!”

Shoving the girl over with a shrieking cackle, Squeakles took a quick lick of the lollipop, eyes closing briefly in simple delight, before she skipped away. She hadn’t gone far before suddenly stopping and turning, staring back at the girl consideringly. She felt like there was something she’d forgotten-

Ah.

Scampering back over, Squeakles took a lock of the girl’s hair between thumb and forefinger, stretching it out straight. She let it go, giggling manically as the hair bounced back into place. Satisfied, Squeakles stood abruptly erect, turned militaristically, slammed her heels together once, twice, thrice, and continue on her merry way.

squeakles, *night, creepy
