Baby/OB stuff

Yesterday morning I woke up a little late and texted my supervisor to let her know I'd be about 45 minutes late to work. I actually got ready faster than I planned and probably would've only been about 30 minutes late except that when I got into my car to leave, it wouldn't start. The lights and stereo all worked but turning the key in the ignition did nada for the engine. I called Elery and he came home to help me try to figure out what was wrong. We jumped the battery but that didn't work. Elery looked at the fuses but they all looked okay. We made the decision to have it towed, somewhere, and for him to go back to work and for me to find a ride to work so I wouldn't have to take a day off. My co-worker picked me up and when Elery got back to work, his father offered to have one of their employees who also has worked as a mechanic, work on it during shop hours. I e-mailed my insurance agent to find out whether I have tow coverage (I did) and arranged for a tow truck to take my car down to the shop. Didn't cost me a penny! Later in the day Elery let know that my starter was bad, he found one at a salvage yard for $40 and got it replaced. They also discovered a wire went bad but that was at the end of the day so he let me now they'd work on it again today. No complaints from me! I mean, I just got my car fixed for $40, how often does that happen?! Plus, of course, Fridays are my day off and other than an OB appointment, I have no where I need to be.

This morning, I took Elery to work so I could borrow his car for my OB appointment. The shop is a whopping 2 miles away from our house so it was hardly an inconvenience. LoL. Last week I was between 2-3cm and 75% effaced and baby was at -2. This week I am at 3cm and 80% effaced, baby is still at -2 station. He just does NOT want to drop apparently! Not as much progress and I've made in the previous weeks but progress all the same. My OB offered to schedule an induction for next week but since I'm not yet overdue, I declined. Although, I wasn't thinking about the fact that I will be overdue at the end of next week when I declined... We scheduled a non-stress test for Tuesday and can go from there to make a decision about an induction. Since I don't think hospitals typically schedule inductions on a weekend, the ideal induction times for me would either be Friday 4.15 or Monday 4.18. Friday is out though because both my Mom and sis have plans for Saturday! So, I'm somewhat considering Thursday of next week and/or Monday or the following week. We'll see how the NST goes and what my doctor thinks is best. He doesn't want me to go past 41 weeks and I get the impression he'd prefer I schedule sooner rather then later. There's nothing to be concerned about specifically with my pregnancy, there's just been research recently about the placenta starting to break down past 40 weeks.

My OB also stripped my membranes today which can be considered a natural form of labor induction. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Let's hope it works and I just go into labor on my own this weekend and don't have to worry about any of this medical induction/scheduling stuff! :)
