Solitude chapter eight is out!  Minna who care can go read it here.

I've gotten a pretty interesting comment in one of my reviews, and it's something that had also come up when I had taken that writer's workshop last year.  What is it?  That I use big, impressive words.

o.O

Now, since the words I use come naturally to me, I'm not sure which of those words are the words in contention.  I've skimmed the chappie looking for examples, but I don't know which words are the 'big' ones.  Could they be these?

Audacity
Obstinacy
Petulance
Deluge
Sternum
Query

Are those words big?  I know that they're not used colloquially, but writing is different.  When I write, I use the words that come to mind.  I mean, it's not like I'm thumbing through a thesaurus to purposely pop in big words.

I'm not trying to invalidate what this reader is saying, because she's someone who actually took the time to give me good constructive criticism, and I appreciate the gesture.  I'm just confused as to what to do with it.  Which words are big???  If only she had left her contact info.  =(

Granted, there was one time in memory where I purposely used a big word.  It's an obscure word, but lovely: foveate (pronounced as 'fo-vee-ate').  I learned it in one of my psychology courses, and my writer's brain adored it.  (For those who care: it's a verb derived from fovea, which is a part of the eye.  It basically means to look at something.)

But anyways, aside from foveate, my question is to minna who read my works:
- Do you think I use big words?
- If so, which ones are they?
- Are they negatively affecting my stories?

Please be honest.  I can take it.  =)
