Quandary

Question:
If you've been waiting three years for the next installment of a story, would you rather get the next installment very soon, but at 25% less in length to what you're accustomed to?  Or would you rather wait an indefinite amount of time to get a heftier installment?

Weird question?  Well, it applies to Solitude.  Yah, that fic that I haven't updated in three years.  >.>  Anyways, I'm basically done with the next chappie, but it's a good 500 words shorter than I'd like.  I've been averaging 2,000 words per chapter for the series, so I wanted to keep it that way.  It's what the readers are used to and what they'd expect.  Especially since they've been waiting so long; I really wanted to present a nice, hefty chapter.

Thing is, it's not happening.  I've racked my brain over it now and well, I only have about 1,500 words.  Now, I like where it ends and it was somewhere I envisioned ending it at for a long time (three years is a long time, right?), but I'm certainly open to expanding the parts of the fic before the end, if you get what I mean.  (Gah, what an awkward sentence).  However, nothing's coming to mind.

So yah, that's my quandary.  So I'm opening it up to minna.  Would you guys rather see the next chappie of Solitude this week, (shorter than what you're used to, but still good - I hope!) or would you rather wait some more?  Some more will probably be... I dunno, three more years though, haha.  *ducks*

fics, help
