This Tea Party Express guy is a major douche.
Yeah, please don't associate yourself with the Founding Fathers. This country was founded on the principles of the Enlightenment - mainly, REASON. Which your little movement is lacking entirely.
Ayayay. America really disturbs me. Or rather, Americans. America is cool. It's like I told my mom the other day...Kansas is really beautiful. I love Kansas. It's the Kansans I can't stand.
Lol, David Gergin and James Cargill have the best WTF expressions with this guy.
Liberals really need to start picking some fights, because honestly, these people are getting way too much airtime, no matter how we try to ignore them.
I'll start, shall I?
Is Obama a Socialist? No, not really. But if he was, it would be a fantastic thing because socialists are NOT THE SAME FUCKING THING as Nazis or Communists, for Christ's sake. How stupid are you? You should stop using big words you don't understand.
Socialism is a concept we embrace in America. It's the idea of everyone contributing for the general welfare. We ALL pay for public schools, the police, the fire department, emergency services, transit...it comes from taxes! Will we all use those things? No. Will some people abuse those services? Yes. But we recognize that these things are important enough that we have to have them to protect our "inalienable" rights - life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. We recognize as a nation that people should be protected from threats to those things - people should be protected from violence, from burglary and vandalism, from burning buildings, from lack of opportunity due to lack of education.
We recognize all those things...but we don't recognize that peoples' lives should be protected from disease as well? What kind of person would argue that his or her fellow citizens don't deserve equal access to healthcare?
But even if you ARE that selfish, even if you believe, like the major douche Bill Cristal, that ordinary citizens don't deserve access to public healthcare like we give to the members of our armed forces, why wouldn't you want to protect your OWN health? Okay, maybe you're a rich fuck who has billions of dollars and can pay for the best treatments the world has to offer...probably in France. But most people do not fall into that category. Most people cannot afford to pay for their healthcare treatments on their own. A huge chunk of those people can't even afford to pay for health insurance. Many people either fall into financial ruin when they have to deal with a serious illness, or by some miracle, the health insurance they have through their employer pays. If the lose their job, they lose their healthcare. If they change jobs, their new insurance says "pre-existing condition!" and covers nothing.
Most people, when it comes to healthcare, are completely and utterly fucked. So why would you not want a public option from the government, a guarantee that no matter what happens with your employment, you'll have coverage? Who wouldn't want that security?
And let's talk about the insurance companies while we're at it. They've paid a lot of fuckers in Congress a lot of money to protect their interests, which is only one thing: PROFITS. Their whole business is making money off of illness. This isn't the same as a service industry in which service improves and cost decreases in order to bring in new customers and satisfy current ones. Sure, internet service providers might work that way, but insurance doesn't. Insurance doesn't provide a service.
Insurance is little better than organized crime, financing your healthcare while taking a nice chunk for themselves. And in order to increase profits, they will do whatever they can to avoid paying out while taking money in. They'll cry "pre-existing condition!" and dropping clients when they become too costly. They will do whatever they can to make more money and provide less.
Why are we trusting these people with our health again? Does it mean so little to us?
I'm sure there are many people out there with legitimate concerns about healthcare reform and public options. I get that. I'm pretty concerned myself that the idiots in Congress are going to screw it up to the point that it's useless. I rather wish this WAS entirely Obama's plan because I think he's smarter and less biased by campaign contributions than a lot of congresspeople are just now. But there's also good reason to take issue with the opponents of this kind of change.
The fact is that there are people out there who fall into one or both of two categories: selfish, and stupid.
The selfish are the asshats in Congress who know they have healthcare, so they're not worried, and they're happy to take those campaign contributions and little perks from insurance companies and go out and rail against this plan to guarantee themselves the money to air those annoying campaign ads when the bid for re-election comes. The selfish are the ones who have the money to pay for their healthcare and don't give a shit about anyone else. The selfish are the ones working for the insurance companies, looking every day for a new way to rip people off when their lives are at stake and make a little more cash for themselves. That, that is sick and wrong.
The stupid are the people who use words (like "socialism") that they don't understand out of fear of change. The stupid are the people who don't bother to inform themselves about the issue but rather choose to shout out their ignorance just to drown out all the other voices. The stupid are the ones that let fear and emotion overcome their ability to reason. The stupid are the ones that think just because there are potential problems means we should do nothing. The stupid are the ones that don't even see the necessity for change.
Look, I fear for the people who think this bill will be detrimental to them in some way. It might be. I fear for the old people that fear they'll be sent to death panels. But at the same time, if you're stupid enough to believe the rhetoric from either side, expecially the radical rhetoric from figures who routinely refuse to make any sense like Sarah Palin, you don't really deserve a voice in this debate. If you can't even bother to inform yourself a little before you go yelling at a town hall meeting, you are irresponsible and unpatriotic. If you're not sure how to get informed on your own, then go and ask civil, polite questions!
But don't you dare demand respect for your point of view when you show none to others. Don't you dare demand your voice be heard when you're actively stifling other voices. That's not how it works. Amendment I says you can say what you want, sure...but it never says anyone has to listen, and I really think we should remember that.
ESPECIALLY IN THE MEDIA. Honestly, just because an opinion exists doesn't mean it's necessarily valid. Just because there are two points of view doesn't mean that one of them isn't dead wrong! Hi, news media? Your job is to report FACTS. Okay? Your job is not, actually, to just let two people from opposing sides blab away and let people sort out what they're saying for themselves. You're supposed to point out the lies so that people actually have what they need to make informed decisions! That's responsible journalism. What you're doing is pretty much as bad as the fear-mongering of radicals.
God, I don't understand how people can be so irresponsible and irrational. I've been watching it all my life, but I still don't get it.
you're shitting me,
grrr,
fuck off,
