sleep like a feather

Holy shit, we moved.

We did it! Somewhere in the midst of all the packing, the slow hauling of boxes from old place to new, the tossing of stuff, the hurling of pressboard furniture over our rotting balcony railing, the big haul of our worldly possessions 25 blocks, and all the "one last score"s in the following daze, it really and truly happened. And we're both exhausted. The majority of our boxes remain unopened and the majority of our meals come from the Colonel or the Burger Family, so we're both a little ugh right now.

Speaking of little, Parker seems to be adjusting well. For the first day or so, he hid behind the toilet. Then he hid behind the bathroom door. Eventually, he braved crossing the hall to my dad's bedroom, where he hid behind a nightstand. Finally, he started poking his head out into the hall, only to have his curiosity demand that he expand his range and sniff everything. He wandered across sleeping humans, looked out windows, and nudged his head into every open box. He knows he's home now. He knows he's safe. Now he can sleep.

And so can we.
