He never intends to be part of one. But once he's there, he doesn't want to be rude. And I bet you anything that he somehow gets the life stories/dreams of everyone there. So at the end of the night, River would be all, "That was nice. Did you enjoy yourself, sweetie?" And he'd be like, "Oh yes! Did you meet Clara? She was the girl with the collar. She's a pot-maker but she wants to be a poet. Has the talent. Recited some verses to me while we... um. And Marcus! Merry Marcus. Merry, manly Marcus. He's very worried about his mum. Imbalance of the humors. Though, I think she's just lactose-intolerant. And then Demetrius!" "So glad you enjoyed yourself, dear."

I can so see that, him not wanting to be rude so ending going along with it, chatting away throughout (and secretly really really loving it), people looking at this strange man a little oddly as he chats away merrily...see i think he would be really good at talking dirty as well....River's quite the screamer and he's quite the talker....mmmm.....:DDD

OMG, I have to love your logic so much on this...about him being in love with the universe and falling in love a little bit with everyone he meets - it's so perfectly true because he does. And he's so much an experiential being, he wants to immerse himself in experiences, wants them to stimulate and delight him - even the scary ones.

And this Doctor in particular really is all about the senses as well - just look at the way he tastes things, touches things, hugs and kisses people - it's the way that he operates. How could he resist jumping in when confronted with that?

*giggle* River and the Doctor would get competitive for sure. I can just imagine them trying to outdo each other with extravagant and unusual positions, looking across the room at each other, I know everyone is like "oh please write this", but, oh, please write this!!!

He's in love with the universe. He falls in love with pretty much everyone he meets (though to different degrees). And he doesn't want to enjoy that love in a passive, observer way. He wants to jump in and experience it all.
